Antônio Jácome
Antônio Jácome de Lima Júnior (born 26 May 1962), better known as Antônio Jácome, is a Brazilian politician as well as a lawyer, medic, and theologian. Although born in Paraíba, he has spent his political career representing Rio Grande do Norte, having served as federal deputy representative from 2015 to 2019. Personal life Jácome is the son of Francisco Xavier de Mesquita and Alda Jácome de Mesquita. Aside from being a politician Jácome has also worked as a lawyer, medic, and theologian. His son Jacó Jácome and nephew Eriko Jácome are both politicians in the state legislature of Rio Grande do Norte. In August 2017 Jácome published a book detailing his time in office. He is a member and former pastor of the Assembleias de Deus, and became the first evangelical elected from Rio Grande do Norte as federal deputy. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Brazil Labor Reform (2017)
The 2017 labor reform in Brazil was a significant change in the country's Consolidation of Labor Laws ( pt, Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho). According to the government, the goal of the reform was to combat unemployment and the still ongoing 2014 Brazilian economic crisis. The bill was proposed and sent to the Chamber of Deputies by the president Michel Temer on December 23, 2016. Since then, during its processing in the National Congress, it was going through several debates and additions to the original bill, for example, the proposal to end the obligatory syndicate (labor union) tax paid by workers hired under the CLT. The bill was approved by the Chamber on April 26, 2017, with 296 favorable votes and 177 against. Later, in the Federal Senate, it was approved on July 11, 2017, by 50 versus 26 votes. Damares Regina Alves (born 11 September 1964) is a Brazilian lawyer and evangelical pastor. She served as the Minister of Women, Families and Human Rights during the Presidency of Jair Bolsonaro from 2019 to 2022.
