Antun Barac
Antun Barac ( Kamenjak, 20 August 1894 – Zagreb, 1 November 1955), was a Croatian historian. Biography Barac graduated at the Faculty of philosophy at the University of Zagreb in 1917, and received his Ph.D. as a high school professor on Sušak in 1918, with the thesis on Vladimir Nazor's poetry. Since 1930 he is a regular professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. He was accepted as a regular member of Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1947. He edited numerous scientific editions and anthologies, and has written high school handbooks together with Nazor. He served as a prorector of the University of Zagreb after his rectorship mandate expired (1950–1951). He was a significant contributor to modern Croatian literary theory, especially in the position of Croatian literature in the European context. Vladimir Vidrić
Vladimir Vidrić (April 20, 1875 – September 29, 1909) was a Croatian poet, and is considered one of the major figures of Croatian secessionist poetry. Life Vidrić was born in Zagreb, to an affluent family of Slovenian origin. He was one of the leaders of the demonstrators who burned the Hungarian flag on the occasion of the emperor Franz Joseph's visit to Zagreb in 1895. He studied law in Prague, Graz and Vienna. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 1903, he became a lawyer rather than pursuing an academic career. He began writing poems in high school, and was first recognized for his poem ''Boni mores'', published in Vienac in 1897. Before his premature death, he wrote only about 40 poems, most of which he self-published in his 1907 collection with the simple title ''Pjesme'' (Poems). Novi Zagreb () is the part of the City of Zagreb located south of the Sava, Sava river. Novi Zagreb forms a distinct whole because it is separated from the northern part of the city both by the river and by the levees around Sava.
