António Lino Neto (Mação, 30 January 1873 – 16 November 1961) was a Portuguese Catholic politician, lawyer and professor of Political Economy. He was politically active during the end of the Constitutional Monarchy, the First Republic and the beginning of the Estado Novo. He was the president of the Catholic Centre Party. Personal life Lino Neto was born in Mação, to Lino Leitão Neto and Rosa Marques Correia da Silva. He served as the first president of Angola from 1975 to 1979, having led the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in the war for independence (1961–1974).
