Antonio Caño
Antonio Caño Barranco (born 1957) is a Spanish journalist. He was the editor of ''El País'' from 2014 to 2018. Biography Born in 1957 in Martos. After a brief spell working for the Agencia EFE, he joined ''El País'' at a young age, working at the newspaper's international area. Correspondent in Mexico and the United States, he was responsible for the editions for the Americas. He was appointed as editor-in-chief of ''El País'' on 4 May 2014, at the 38th anniversary of the newspaper. A protegè of Juan Luis Cebrián, ''El País'' founder and former editor-in chief, during his 4 year spell as editor, the newspaper's editorial line experienced a further swing towards right-leaning positions, at odds with the chiefly left-leaning readership base of the newspaper in Spain. Martos
Martos is a city in the province of Jaén in the autonomous community of Andalusia in south-central Spain. Juan Luis Cebrián Echarri (born 30 October 1944) is a Spanish journalist and businessman, the co-founder of ''El País'', and CEO of Prisa, a Spanish media conglomerate. Cebrián was born in Madrid in 1944. He studied philosophy at the Universidad Complutense, and earned a bachelor's degree from the Escuela Oficial de Periodismo. He has been editor-in-chief of the Spanish daily newspaper ''El País'' since 1976. Cebrián was elected to Seat ''V'' of the Real Academia Española in December 1996, and took up his seat in May 1997.
