Anton Ponkrashov
Anton Aleksandrovich Ponkrashov (russian: Антон Александрович Понкрашов, born April 23, 1986) is a Russian professional basketball player for Nizhny Novgorod of the VTB United League. Standing at , he can play as a swingman and as a point guard. Professional career Ponkrashov joined Pulkovo during the 2001–02 season. He moved to LenVo Saint Petersburg for the 2002–03 season. He then moved to Spartak St. Petersburg for the 2004–05 season. He then joined CSKA Moscow for the 2006–07 season. He then moved to Khimki Moscow Region for the 2007–08 season and he returned to CSKA Moscow before the 2009–10 season. Ponkrashov has played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League in 2010. On July 21, 2010 he signed a two-year contract with Spartak Saint Petersburg. In July 2011 he signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year with CSKA Moscow. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. The VTB United League 2012–13 was the fourth complete season of the VTB United League, which is Northern and Eastern Europe's top-tier level men's professional club basketball competition. The NBA Summer League, also known as the Las Vegas Summer League, is an off-season competition organized by the National Basketball Association. NBA teams come together to try out different summer rosters instead of their regular season line-ups, including rookie, sophomore and G League affiliate players. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. EuroBasket 2007
The 2007 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2007, was the 35th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to the champion and runner-up teams (or to the third-placed team in case Spain should reach the final).
