Antología (song)
"Antología" ( en, Anthology) is a song by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, taken from her third studio album ''Pies Descalzos''. It was released in 1997 by Sony Music and Columbia Records as the fifth single from the album. The song was written and produced by Shakira, with additional production from Luis Fernando Ochoa. "Antología" is a Latin pop ballad that lyrically discusses an appreciation for the knowledge a lover has shared. It is one of Shakira's signature songs in Latin America. Background In 1990, a thirteen-year-old Shakira signed a recording contract with Sony Music and released her debut studio album ''Magia'' in 1991, which largely consisted of tracks she had written since she was eight years old. Commercially, the project struggled, selling an underwhelming 1,200 copies in her native Colombia. Her follow-up record '' Peligro'' was released in 1993, and suffered a similar failure. Consequently, Shakira took a two-year hiatus, allowing her to complete her high sc ...

Peligro (Shakira Album)
''Peligro'' ( en, Danger, italic=yes) is the second studio album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, released on 25 March 1993, by Sony Music Colombia. Background Author Ximena Diego wrote that "the first fifteen years of Shakira's life gave her a taste of how sweet stardom could be";Diego, Ximena (2002). p. 42. She was signed to Sony Music Colombia at the age of 13, with the deal being to record three albums, which were '' Magia'', ''Peligro'' and ''Pies Descalzos''. While ''Magia'', her debut album, wasn't much of a success commercially, with only 1,200 copies sold, the songs from that record garnered frequent radio play on Colombian radio stations, and, according to Diego, showed her potential. Despite ''Magia'''s lack of sales, Sony Colombia had higher expectations for Shakira's second album, hoping that it would heighten the small popularity she was already having. Diego wrote, however, that the time during the production and release of ''Peligro'' would prove that "th ...

Pop Ballads
A sentimental ballad is an emotional style of music that often deals with romantic and intimate relationships, and to a lesser extent, loneliness, death, war, drug abuse, politics and religion, usually in a poignant but solemn manner.J. M. Curtis, ''Rock Eras: Interpretations of Music and Society, 1954-1984'' (Popular Press, 1987), p. 236. Ballads are generally melodic enough to get the listener's attention. Sentimental ballads are found in most music genres, such as pop, R&B, soul, country, folk, rock and electronic music. Usually slow in tempo, ballads tend to have a lush musical arrangement which emphasizes the song's melody and harmonies. Characteristically, ballads use acoustic instruments such as guitars, pianos, saxophones, and sometimes an orchestral set. Many modern mainstream ballads tend to feature synthesizers, drum machines and even, to some extent, a dance rhythm. Sentimental ballads had their origins in the early Tin Pan Alley music industry of the later 1 ...
