Antoine Boësset
Antoine Boësset, Antoine Boesset or Anthoine de Boesset (1586 – 8 December 1643), sieur de Villedieu, was the superintendent of music at the Ancien Régime French court and a composer of secular music, particularly airs de cour. He and his father-in-law Pierre Guédron dominated the court's musical life for the first half of the 17th century under Louis XIII. His son Jean-Baptiste eBoesset, sieur de Dehault, composed church music. Life Born at Blois and baptised there on 24 February 1587, he was made master of the children within the musical household of the ''Chambre du roi'' in 1613. He rose to be the queen's music master in 1617 and secretary to the ''Chambre du roi'' in 1620, and finally ''surintendant'' of the musical household of the ''Chambre du roi'' in 1623 – in the last of these roles he succeeded Guédron (''surintendant'' under Henry IV and Louis XIII), whose daughter he married in 1613. Mass (music)
The Mass ( la, missa) is a form of sacred musical composition that sets the invariable portions of the Christian Eucharistic liturgy (principally that of the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion, and Lutheranism), known as the Mass. Most Masses are settings of the liturgy in Latin, the sacred language of the Catholic Church's Roman Rite, but there are a significant number written in the languages of non-Catholic countries where vernacular worship has long been the norm. For example, there have been many Masses written in English for a United States context since the Second Vatican Council, and others (often called "communion services") for the Church of England. Masses can be ''a cappella'', that is, without an independent accompaniment, or they can be accompanied by instrumental ''obbligatos'' up to and including a full orchestra. Centre De Musique Baroque De Versailles
The Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles (CMBV - ''Centre of Baroque Music Versailles'') is a centre for the study and performance of French Baroque music, based at the Menus-Plaisirs du Roi. It was founded by Philippe Beaussant and Vincent Berthier de Lioncourt, who were entrusted with the task of founding a musical establishment at Versailles by the French Ministry of Culture in 1987. It opened in 1988 (with Beaussant as its first artistic advisor and de Lioncourt its first director), and an adult choir and children's choir (''Les Chantres'' and ''Les Pages'' respectively) were added in the following two years.
