Wright is an occupational surname originating in England. The term 'Wright' comes from the circa 700 AD Old English word 'wryhta' or 'wyrhta', meaning worker or shaper of wood. Later it became any occupational worker (for example, a shipwright is a person who builds ships), and is used as a British family name. Anthony Lavon Wright (born February 14, 1976) is a former American football quarterback in the National Football League for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants. He played college football at the University of South Carolina. Early years Wright attended West Craven High School, where he played as a quarterback. As a senior, he was named All-state, SuperPrep All-American and Gatorade Player-of-the-Year. He finished his high school career with 4,890 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Anthony Wayland Wright (born 11 March 1948) is a British Labour Party politician and author, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cannock Chase from 1997 to 2010. He was first elected in 1992 for Cannock and Burntwood. Early life Wright was educated at Desborough County Primary School, then Kettering Grammar School (now known as the Tresham Institute although the old building has been recently knocked down) on Windmill Avenue in Kettering. Wright was educated at the London School of Economics (gaining a First class honours BSc in government in 1970), Harvard University (where he was a Kennedy Scholar from 1970 to 1971), and Balliol College, Oxford, gaining a DPhil in 1973. Anthony John Wright (born 27 June 1962 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire), England was a Gloucestershire cricketer from 1980 until 1998. A right-handed batsman, he scored 13440 runs for Gloucestershire which makes him one of 31 cricketers to have made over 10 000 runs for the county and puts him 20th for most runs (as of Feb 2007). His most prolific season with the bat came in 1991 when he made 1596 runs. Anthony David Wright (born 12 August 1954) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Great Yarmouth from 1997 until losing his seat at the 2010 election. Early life Wright attended to St George's Infant School, Priory Junior School, and Hospital Secondary Modern School. From 1970 to 1974, he was an engineering apprentice, then a mechanical engineer from 1974 to 1983. He worked originally with ErieElectronics, and then was subsequently employed at Brown and Root and Probe Oil Tools. It was through his work as an engineer that he became involved in a trade union and entered politics. Early life Wright was born in Bradford to David Wright who was the owner of a Gallery in Bradford that showcased local artists. Originally wanting to become a Designer, Wright was convinced to take a Youth Training Scheme at a local printing firm. Tony Wright is an author and consciousness researcher from Penzance, Cornwall, UK. He claims to hold the world record for sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation record Wright claimed the world sleep deprivation record in May 2007 with 266 continuous hours of sleeplessness. He based his record-breaking attempt on the belief that Randy Gardner was officially recognized by the '' Guinness Book of Records'' as holding the deprivation record of 264 hours. However, the Guinness record was actually for 11½ days, or 276 hours, and was set by Toimi Soini in Hamina, Finland from February 5 to the 15th, 1964, and Wright did not in fact break the Guinness record. However, Wright's friend Graham Gynn asserts that the Gardner record was the accepted record in the sleep research community.
