Anthony Theodore Lobo
Anthony Theodore Felix Lobo (4 July 1937 – 18 February 2013) was a Pakistani Roman Catholic bishop. On 8 June 1982 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Karachi by Pope John Paul II. On 28 May 1993 he became Bishop of Islamabad–Rawalpindi. Biography Lobo was born in Karachi, British India (now Pakistan) on 4 July 1937, to Joseph and Ermina Lobo, Catholics of Goan origin. He received his early education at Saint Patrick's High School and his religious training at the Christ the King seminary in Karachi, and was ordained a priest in Karachi on 8 January 1961. He also has degrees from the University of Karachi, Harvard and Paris. Bishop Lobo made important contributions to education in the country. He was Principal of St. Lawrence's Boys School, Karachi and later of Saint Patrick's High School, Karachi. In November 1986 he founded St. Michael's Convent School. Roman Catholic Diocese Of Islamabad-Rawalpindi
The Catholic Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi (Lat: ''Dioecesis Islamabadensis-Ravalpindensis'') is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in Pakistan. There is anecdotal evidence that St. Thomas the Apostle passed through Taxila (in this diocese) on his way to India in the first century AD. The diocese has a long history, as it was originally erected in 1887, as the Apostolic Prefecture of Kafiristan and Kashmir. The prefecture was erected from the Diocese of Lahore. In 1947, the Apostolic prefecture was elevated to a full diocese, and renamed the diocese of Rawalpindi. In 1952, Kashmir was lost to the diocese, and a new diocese created from territory in Rawalpindi and Lahore to create the Apostolic Prefecture of Kashmir and Jammu. Notre Dame Institute Of Education
The Notre Dame Institute of Education (NDIE) is a teacher education facility in Saddar Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. History NDIE opened in 1991 with 17 students in the Bachelor of Education programme. Average annual enrollments in this are 55, with 30 in the Masters of Education. It is one of only two Catholic tertiary institution in Pakistan, the other being the National Catholic Institute of Theology. NDIE is located on the campus of Saint Patrick's High School, Karachi. NDIE is the brainchild of Bishop Anthony Theodore Lobo. Keen to bring change to the Pakistani education system, in 1988 he went to Australia to seek help. Goan Catholics ( gom, Goenchem Katholik) are an ethno-religious community of Indian Christians following the Roman Rite of worship from the Goa state, in the southern part of the Konkan region along the west coast of India. They are Konkani people and speak the Konkani language. Missionary activities followed soon after the Portuguese conquest of Goa as Pope Nicholas V had enacted the Papal bull of ''Romanus Pontifex'' in AD 1455, according to which the patronage for propagation of the Christian faith in the East Indies was granted to the Portuguese crown.
