Anthony Tew
Anthony Martin Tew (24 August 1908 – 23 June 1987) was an English first-class cricketer and police officer. The son of E. W. Tew and his wife, Catherine Isabel Hawke (sister of Lord Hawke),Nephew of Lord Hawke Married. ''Leeds Mercury''. 9 September 1935. p. 5 he was born in August 1908 at Wigginton, Yorkshire. He was educated at Winchester College, before going up to Magdalen College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he made two appearances in first-class cricket for Oxford University in 1928, against Kent and the touring West Indians at Oxford. He scored 5 runs in his two matches, in addition to taking 3 wickets. After graduating from Oxford, he became a police officer. He served with Lincolnshire Constabulary, rising to the rank of inspector by 1946. He was appointed as chief constable of Shropshire Constabulary on 5 February 1946, however he resigned from the post just one day later for personal reasons and was succeeded by Douglas Osmond.New Police Chief Gives Up Pos ... Wigginton, North Yorkshire
Wigginton is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of the City of York in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated north of York. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 3,714, reducing to 3,610 at the 2011 Census. The village was historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was then a part of the district of Ryedale in North Yorkshire from 1974 until 1996. Since 1996 it has been part of the City of York unitary authority. Wigginton is bordered on the east by the township of Haxby, the A1237 road, A1237 York Outer ring Road to the south, the B1363 road, B1363 to the west and open farmland to the north. University Parks
The Oxford University Parks, commonly referred to locally as the University Parks, or just The Parks, is a large parkland area slightly northeast of the city centre in Oxford, England. The park is bounded to the east by the River Cherwell, though a small plot of land called Mesopotamia sits between the upper and lower levels of the river. To the north of the parks is Norham Gardens and Lady Margaret Hall, to the west the Parks Road, and the Science Area on South Parks Road to the south. The park is open to the public during the day, and has gardens, large sports fields, and exotic plants. It includes a cricket ground used by Oxford University Cricket Club. Princess Margaret Hospital, Swindon
The Princess Margaret Hospital was a large hospital situated in Okus Road, Swindon, Wiltshire, England. It was managed by the Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust. History The hospital, which was built to replace the aging Victoria Hospital, was opened in phases: the outpatients department was opened in 1959 and the main block was opened by Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Princess Margaret in April 1966. After services transferred to the Great Western Hospital, the Princess Margaret Hospital closed on 3 December 2002. The building was demolished in 2004 and the 25-acre site was redeveloped as housing.
