Anthony S. Manera
Anthony (Tony) Manera was President of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from 1993 to 1995. He joined the CBC as Vice-President of Human Resources in 1985 and was appointed Senior Vice President in 1986. He resigned from the Presidency of the CBC in 1995 with almost four years left in his mandate as a protest against government cuts to the Corporation. After his departure from the CBC, he established an international consulting practice in broadcasting, the performing arts, human resources, higher education, management, and governance. Some of his clients were the Canadian Public Service Commission, the Telelatino Television Network, the Polish Broadcasting Council, and the National Arts Centre. His interests include classical music, gardening, reading, and writing. His opinion pieces have been published in several leading Canadian publications. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (french: Société Radio-Canada), branded as CBC/Radio-Canada, is a Canadian public broadcaster for both radio and television. It is a federal Crown corporation that receives funding from the government. The English- and French-language service units of the corporation are commonly known as CBC and Radio-Canada, respectively. The system was formed through the merger of the former Grace Hospital, Ottawa Riverside Hospital, Ottawa General Hospital and Ottawa Civic Hospital. Opera Lyra Ottawa (OLO) was a non-profit professional opera company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1984 by Canadian soprano Diana Gilchrist after the demise of the National Arts Centre's annual summer opera productions. The company performed fully staged and concert version operas in their original language with French and English surtitles at the National Arts Centre as well as running outreach and young artist programs. Gérard Veilleux, OC (born 1942) was president of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from 1989 to 1993. He became president of Power Communications in 1994. Henry Perrin Beatty (born June 1, 1950) is a Canadian corporate executive and former politician, who served as a Progressive Conservative of the House of Commons from 1972 to 1993, and as a cabinet minister from 1979 to 1980 and again from 1984 to 1993.
