Anthony Pereira
Anthony Pereira (born 9 April 1982 in Navelim, Goa) is a former Indian professional footballer, who represented the India national football team on 29 occasions between 2009 and 2012. Club career Anthony started his football career in Vasco S.C. After 2 seasons, he moved to Dempo S.C. where his football career flourished under the coaching of Armando Colaco. During his 7-year stint at the club, Dempo S.C. won the I-League 4 times. International career On 22 August 2012, Pereira scored a goal in 84th minute against Syria coming as a second-half substitute in the Nehru Cup where India won 2–1. Navelim
Navelim is a census town and fast growing suburb of the city of Margao located in the Salcete sub-district of South Goa district, Goa, India. It has a large parish and has played a crucial rule in South Goa politics at some stage. The region falls in the coastal South Goa sub-district of Salcete. It has been connected with some important persons from the world of Goan history too. History Navelim's church was first built by the Jesuits in the 1590s; the present, Portuguese-style whitewashed structure was constructed later on when the older building became too small. The reconstruction was apparently financed by a local merchant "Barreto" who was saved from bankruptcy through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary. According to legend, this church was built in mud similar to the other churches in Salcete between 1594 and 1598. The builders were Jesuits and it was financed by the villagers. The 2011 South Asian Football Federation Championship, sponsored by Karbonn Mobiles and officially named Karbonn SAFF Championship 2011, was the 9th tournament of the SAFF Championship, which held in New Delhi, India. 2009 Nehru Cup
The 2009 Nehru Cup International Football Tournament also known as the ONGC Nehru Cup due to the competition's sponsorship by ONGC, was the 14th edition of the Nehru Cup a friendly tournament organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The 14th edition of the Nehru Cup International Football Tournament was played in the round-robin league format and the final was held on 31 August. Along with the host nation India, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Syria and Kyrgyzstan competed in the 15-day tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi .
