Anthony Palmer VC (10 March 1819 – 12 December 1892) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Career Grenadier Guards Palmer was about 35 years old, and a private in the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 5 November 1854 at the Battle of Inkerman, Crimea, Private Palmer, with two other men were the first to volunteer to go with Brevet Major Sir Charles Russell to dislodge a party of Russians from the Sandbag Battery. The attack succeeded. During this action Private Palmer shot down an assailant who was in the act of bayoneting Russell, and so saved his life. Lieutenant-General Anthony Malcolm Douglas Palmer (born 13 March 1949) is a retired British Army officer. He was Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Personnel) from 2002 to 2005. Career Educated at Winchester College, Palmer was commissioned into the Royal Green Jackets in 1970 and served in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. Tony Palmer (born February 23, 1983) is a former American football guard. The former University of Missouri guard who was selected by the St. Louis Rams. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers after being cut in the 2006 preseason by St. Louis. Palmer was released by the Packers in the 2008 offseason. Early years Was selected First-team All-state by the Daily Oklahoman as well as All-Metro and All-city honors on offense. Anthony Joseph Palmer (4 February 1966 – 20 July 2014) was a British-born South African theologian, missiologist, missionary and author. Palmer was born in the United Kingdom and moved to South Africa when he was 10 years old. He and his wife maintained a website, called the Ark Community, which is described as "an internet-based, Inter-denominational Christian Convergent Community, drawing our spirituality from the “Early Church” (33-600AD), in particular, Celtic Christian spirituality."
