Anthony Nicholls (actor)
Anthony Nicholls (16 October 1902 – 22 February 1977) was an English actor. Life and career Nicholls was born 16 October 1902 in Windsor, Berkshire, England, the son of Florence (née Holderness) and photojournalist Horace Nicholls. Distinguishing himself on the Shakespearean stage alongside the Redgrave family, Laurence Olivier and Peter O'Toole. In addition he played R Austin Freeman's Doctor Thorndyke on BBC Radio in ''Mr Pottermack's Oversight'', in 1963. The episode was preserved. American audiences first saw Nicholls in the company of Ronald Reagan, Richard Todd and Patricia Neal in ''The Hasty Heart'' (1949). He made his television debut in 1949 and continued with steady work as an actor for the rest of his life, including the film '' A Man For All Seasons'' (1966). In the television series ''The Champions'', he played the role of W.L. Tremayne, the overseer of three top secret agents. Anthony Nicholls (physicist)
Anthony (Ant) Nicholls is a physicist and entrepreneur from Plympton, Plymouth, England. Education Nicholls first studied Physics at Oxford before joining the Institute for Molecular Biophysics at Florida State University. There he studied quantum dispersion of excitations in biological systems with William Rhodes and football with Bobby Bowden. He earned his Ph.D. in biophysics in 1988 and began a post-doc with Barry Honig at Columbia University, New York. Software development Nicholls has largely worked in molecular biophysics, designing software that is used in drug discovery applications. While at Columbia University, he re-wrote the electrostatics program known as DelPhi. DelPhi took input from a coordinate file format of a molecule and calculated the electrostatic potential in and around the system, using a finite difference solution to the Poisson-Boltzmann equation. Anthony Nicholl
Anthony Nicholl , also ''Nicoll'', or ''Nicolls'', November 1611 to February 1658, was an English politician, friend and associate of Parliamentary leaders John Pym and John Hampden. In the political struggles that followed victory in the 1642 to 1646 First English Civil War, he was one of the Eleven Members accused by senior Army officers in July 1647 of attempting to destabilise the kingdom. Suspended in January 1648, he was restored, then expelled in Pride's Purge of December 1648. He returned to Parliament in 1654, and was appointed Sheriff of Cornwall in 1656. He died in London in February 1658. Biography Anthony Nicholl was born 14 November 1611, one of many children born to Humphrey Nicholl (1577–1643), and Philippa Rouse (died 1669). His father was a member of the Cornish gentry, his mother half-sister to John Pym.
