Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards For Excellence
The Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence were initiated by Anthony N. Sabga, one of the Caribbean's most celebrated entrepreneurs and founder and chairman emeritus of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The awards are meant to recognise and reward excellence in the Caribbean region, and create an awareness of the significant work done in the region that benefits Caribbean people, and all people worldwide. The Sabga Awards programme is the only institution of its kind in the Caribbean. Launched in 2005, prizes are awarded in the spheres of Arts & Letters, Science & Technology, and Public & Civic Contributions. The first laureates were named in 2006, and were presented with a cash prize of (TT)$500,000 (US$83,000), a gold medal, and a citation. Barbara Gloudon
Barbara Joy Gloudon OD, OJ, IOJ ( Goodison; 5 February 1935 – 11 May 2022) was a Jamaican journalist, author, playwright and theatre chair. As well as having a distinguished career as a journalist, in which capacity she was honoured with two Seprod Awards from the Press Association of Jamaica and as an officer in the Order of Distinction, Gloudon began working in 1969 as a scriptwriter for Jamaica's Little Theatre Movement (LTM) and also wrote radio drama. She hosted a radio talk show for thirty years and became chair of the LTM. Having received numerous awards and honours, Gloudon was granted the Order of Jamaica in 1992 and became a fellow of the Institute of Jamaica in 2012. The ''Trinidad and Tobago Guardian'' (together with the ''Sunday Guardian'') is the oldest daily newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago. Lennox Honychurch ( ; born 27 December 1952) is Dominica's most noted historian and a politician. He is well known for writing 1975's '' The Dominica Story: A History of the Island'', the 1980s textbook series '' The Caribbean People'', and the 1991 travel book '' Dominica: Isle of Adventure''. Sydney Charles Allicock (born 1954) was minister of Indigenous People's Affairs in Guyana from 2015-2020, and was vice-president of Guyana from 2015-2020. Career Allicock was born in North Rupununi, Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region. he was elected Toshao (chief) of the Annai, in Region No. Nine, the North Rupununi in 1989. He is currently the chairman of the North Rupununi District Development Board.
