Anthony Lynch (Gaelic Footballer)
Anthony Lynch (born 21 August 1977 in Ballyvourney, County Cork) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Naomh Abán and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1999 to 2011. Playing career Club Lynch plays his club football with his local club called Naomh Abán in Ballyvourney. Lynch first came to prominence as a member of the club's underage teams. After the minor grade, he quickly joined the under-21 team. In 1995 Naomh Abán won their divisional championship and subsequently reached the final of the county under-21 championship. The opponents on that occasion were Mallow and a close game developed. At the full-time whistle the victory went to Mallow, as their ability to score goals clinched a 2–9 to 0–12 win. Naomh Abán GAA
Naomh Abán GAA is a Gaelic football club based in the Gaeltacht village of Baile Bhuirne, County Cork, Ireland. It participates in games of the Muskerry division of the Cork GAA. The club has experienced senior grade football within Cork county for many years. It now participates in the Premier Intermediate grade. The club has contributed a number of players to the Cork Gaelic football team. These have included Anthony Lynch, Mícheál Cronin, Gerry Lucey, Gerry Lynch, Mick Scannell, Peadar Healy, and Coleman Twomey. Naomh Abán GAA fields underage boys and girls teams and also has an adult ladies team. The club does not field any hurling teams. The ladies team won the All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2003 making it the most successful team in the history of Naomh Abán. In 2021, Tomás ‘Tiktok’ Keane made his debut for the senior team. Ollie Murphy
Ollie Murphy is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Carnaross club and the Meath county team. He came to national prominence in 1999 when he was one of Meath's best players as they won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship that year, scoring the decisive goal in that year's All-Ireland final. This was his second All Ireland senior medal as he was a substitute when Meath won the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He also won three Leinster Senior Football Championship medals. Murphy won two GAA All Stars Awards. Murphy's best season was the 2001 championship where he put in a number of superb display's as Meath reached another All Ireland final. In that final he had to leave the field of play with a hand injury. In recent years his form has been not up to what it once was and he has failed to warrant a starting position. Alan Quirke
Alan Quirke (born 19 October 1976 in Innishannon, County Cork, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Valley Rovers and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1999 to 2013. Playing career Club Quirke plays Gaelic football with his local club Valley Rovers and has enjoyed much success with the great club. It was with UCC, however, that he tasted his first major success on the football field. In 1999 Quirke was the goalkeeper on the university's senior football team. That year UCC qualified for the county championship final. Footballing kingpins Nemo Rangers provided the opposition, however, that game ended in a draw. The replay saw UCC prove too strong for Nemo and a merited 1–11 to 1–8 victory gave Quirke a county senior championship winners' medal. James Masters (Gaelic Footballer)
James Masters (born 13 July 1982 in Cork, Ireland) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Nemo Rangers club and at senior level for the Cork county team from 2005 until 2010. Biography James Masters was born in Cork in 1982. He was educated locally at Coláiste Chríost Rí on the south side of the city. It was here that he first came to prominence as a hurler and a footballer on various school teams. In 2001 Masters was the star player for the coláiste when he scored nine points against St. Colman's College to win the county colleges' title. He later studied at the Garda Síochána College in Templemore and currently works as a Garda in Crookstown. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Colin Corkery
Colin Corkery (born 5 January 1971) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club Nemo Rangers and at senior level for the Cork county team from 1993 until 2004. Playing career Club Corkery played his club football with the Nemo Rangers club on the south side of Cork city, with whom he has had a number of successes. He first came to prominence as a player on the club's minor team that captured the Cork Minor Football Championship title in 1989. Corkery subsequently joined the Nemo Rangers senior team. He secured a county championship winners' medal in this grade in 1993, following a nine-point defeat of near rivals St. Finbarr's. Nemo later represented Cork in the provincial club championship and even reached the final of that competition. Croke Park ( ga, Páirc an Chrócaigh, ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Named after Archbishop Thomas Croke, it is referred to as Croker by GAA fans and locals. It serves as both the principal national stadium of Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
