Anthony Ireland (actor)
Anthony Ireland (4 February 1902 - 4 December 1957) was a British actor. He was born in Peru to British parents but by 1904 his family lived in Chile, where his brother Noel was born. In 1910 they moved to England and in the 1911 census they were shown as living in Bedford. Noel became an RAF pilot and was killed in a crash in 1931. Ireland made his stage debut in 1925, and appeared in the original London production of Patrick Hamilton's ''Rope'', in 1929. He was active in both British and U.S. theatre, and in various films and TV shows over the years. Spotlight is the largest Casting (performing arts), casting resource in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1927, it has over 70,000 actors, actresses, presenters, dancers, and stunt performers in its database. It is used by thousands of production companies, broadcasters, advertisement agencies, and casting directors. Clients range from large organisations such as the BBC, ITV (TV network), ITV, and Channel 4 to smaller production companies. It publishes its "Contacts" handbook both in hard copy and as an e-book. It includes listings for over 5,000 companies, services, and individuals across all branches of film, television, stage, video games, and voice acting. Spotlight is one of the most successful companies in casting, generating over £10 million per year. Although established since 1927, it only registered as a limited company in 2010. ''I Accuse!'' is a British 1958 CinemaScope biographical drama film directed by and starring José Ferrer. The film is based on the true story of the Dreyfus affair, in which a Jewish captain in the French Army was falsely accused of treason. Plot synopsis In 1894 Alfred Dreyfus (José Ferrer), a Jewish captain in the French Army, is falsely accused of treason. He is sentenced to life imprisonment on Devil's Island. Major Ferdinand Walsin-Esterhazy, an infantry officer of Hungarian descent, helps in the investigation. When he is found to be the real spy, the French Army tries to hide the truth by exonerating the traitor in a mock trial. Émile Zola, the famous French author, writes an open letter to the prime minister of France entitled ''I Accuse!'', which reveals the truth behind the cover up.
