Anthony Grant (priest)
Anthony Grant, D.C.L. (31 January 1806 – 25 November 1883 in Ramsgate) was an English clergyman and divine. Life Grant was youngest son of Thomas Grant of Portsea, Portsmouth. He was born 31 January 1806, was sent to Winchester College in 1815, and on 17 February 1825 matriculated as a scholar of New College, Oxford, becoming fellow in 1827. He was also president of the Oxford Union. As a member of this college Grant did not go out in the university class lists, but he obtained the chancellor's Latin essay in 1830, and the Ellerton theological prize essay in 1832. He proceeded B.C.L. in 1832, and D.C.L. 1842. In 1834 he was ordained, and two years later became curate of Chelmsford; from 1838 to 1862 he was vicar of Romford (St Edward the Confessor), Essex, and from 1862 to 1877 vicar of Aylesford, Kent. Anthony Grant (politician)
Sir John Anthony Grant (29 May 1925 – 9 October 2016) was a British Conservative politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1964 until his retirement in 1997. He was knighted for political and public service in the 1983 New Year Honours. Early life He attended St Paul's School, London, and Brasenose College, Oxford. He served in the Army from 1943–1948 as a captain in the Third Dragoon Guards ( 3rd Carabiniers) and became a solicitor in 1952. Parliamentary career Grant first contested Hayes and Harlington, unsuccessfully, in 1959. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Harrow Central from 1964 to 1983. The Harrow Central constituency was abolished during boundary changes just before the 1983 general election. During this procedure, he competed unsuccessfully with Hugh Dykes, the sitting MP for Harrow East, for the nomination for the much enlarged Harrow East constituency. Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015. Prior to becoming the VCU head coach, he was an assistant coach at the University of Florida from 1996 to 2006.
