Charles Anthon
Charles Anthon (November 19, 1797 – July 29, 1867) was an American classical scholar. Anthon was a professor at Columbia College and became headmaster of it's grammar and preparatory school. He produced classical works for schools, which contained assistance and translations in the notes. He had a disagreement with Martin Harris over an account where they discussed the authenticity of the ''Anthon Transcript'' of the Book of Mormon. Anthon was also an acquaintance of writer Edgar Allan Poe. He died in New York City at the age of 69. Life His father George Christian Anthon was a German-American medical doctor who served in the British Army during the American Revolution until the surrender of Detroit in 1796. George attained the rank of surgeon general, resigned, married the daughter of a French officer, and settled in New York City. Georg David Anthon
Georg (George) David Anthon (1 October 1714 – 30 August 1781) was a German born, Danish architect. Background Anthon was born in Northern Germany. He was student of Danish architect Nicolai Eigtved (1701–1754) and graduated as a teacher of geometry and architecture from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1748. He continued as an instructor at the Academy until 1760. Career In 1751 he became a royal building inspector (''kongelig bygningsinspektør''), For a short period after Nicolai Eigtved's death in 1754, Anthon led the account-taking work on Frederik's Church (''Marmorkirken''). In 1761 he was named Royal Master Builder with responsibility for all the royal castles and homes. He worked as a teacher at the Royal Danish Academy until 1760. He applied for membership of the Academy in 1759 but his application was denied. He never gained membership. John Anthon
John Anthon (born in Detroit, May 14, 1784; died in New York City, March 5, 1863) was an American jurist. Early life Anthon was born in Detroit on May 14, 1784. He was the son of Geneviève Jadot (1763–1821), a descendant of Louis Hebert, one of the earliest European settlers of New France (present day Quebec), and George Christian Anthon (1734–1815), a German- American physician who served in the British Army during the American Revolution until the surrender of Detroit in 1796. He attained the rank of surgeon general, resigned, married the daughter of a French officer, and settled in New York City. His brother, Henry Anthon (1795-1861), was a noted clergyman. Another brother, Charles Anthon (1797–1867), was a noted educator and classical scholar. Kelly Anthon
Kelly Arthur Anthon (born August 4, 1974) is a Republican Idaho State Senator since 2015 representing District 27. Early life and education Anthon was born in Burley, Idaho. He was raised on a family farm near Declo, Idaho, attending public schools in Declo and graduating from Declo High School in 1992. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan, and later graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology in 1998 and from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2002 where he was also named the Bistline Scholar and student body president. In 2017, Anthon completed training as a professional civil mediator at Pepperdine University.
