Anthea Askey
Anthea Shirley Askey (2 March 1933 – 28 February 1999) was an English actress, particularly prominent on television in the 1950s. Anthea Askey was born in Golders Green, north London, to the comedian and actor Arthur Askey, and his wife Elizabeth May Swash. She featured in many television roles alongside her father. Her early television appearances included '' Love and Kisses'', where she played Rose Brown, whose father Bill was played by her father; while other TV and films include ''The Love Match'', ''Ramsbottom Rides Again'', ''Before Your Very Eyes'', ''Living It Up'', ''The Dickie Henderson Half-Hour'', ''Arthur's Treasured Volumes'' and a cameo appearance in ''Make Mine a Million'' in 1959. Golders Green
Golders Green is an area in the London Borough of Barnet in England. A smaller suburban linear settlement, near a farm and public grazing area green of medieval origins, dates to the early 19th century. Its bulk forms a late 19th century and early 20th century suburb with a commercial crossroads. The rest is of later build. It is centred approximately 6 miles (9 km) north west of Charing Cross on the intersection of Golders Green Road and Finchley Road. It was founded as a medieval hamlet (place), hamlet in the large parish of Hendon, Middlesex. The parish was heavily superseded by Municipal Borough of Hendon, Hendon Urban District in 1894 and by the Municipal Borough of Hendon in 1932, abolished in 1965. Make Mine A Million
''Make Mine a Million'' is a 1959 British comedy film directed by Lance Comfort, starring Arthur Askey, Sid James, and Bernard Cribbins. The film parodies the stuffiness of the 1950s BBC and the effect of television advertising in the era. It was shot at Shepperton Studios near London with sets designed by the art director Denis Wreford. The film was distributed by British Lion. Plot Arthur Ashton (in a parody of himself, Arthur Askey) is a makeup man working for National Television (a parody of the BBC). During a visit to the local launderette, he meets Sid Gibson (Sid James), a shady pedlar who is trying to flog ''Bonko,'' a brand of washing powder in the shape of a pill. The man cannot afford to advertise on TV, but wishes to do so. The fairly clueless Arthur agrees to help him, and they manage to plug an advert for Bonko on National Television by interrupting the live feed. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. ''The Darling Buds of May'' is a Television in the United Kingdom, British comedy drama television series, produced by ITV Yorkshire, Yorkshire Television for the ITV (TV network), ITV network, first broadcast between 7 April 1991 and 4 April 1993. The first six episodes of Series 1 and the first two of Series 2 are adaptations of the 1958 novel The Darling Buds of May (novel), of the same name, and three of its four sequels, by H. E. Bates. ''Arthur's Treasured Volumes'' was a black-and-white British television series that aired on ITV in 1960. Starring Arthur Askey, it was written by Dave Freeman and was made for the ITV network by ATV. All six episodes were missing having been presumed wiped during the 1960s, until part of the first episode "A Blow In Anger" was recovered by Paul Stroud and shown at the National Film Theatre in November 2003. The remaining episodes were re-discovered in ITV's archive by a researcher from archive television organisation Kaleidoscope in December 2019. Worthing
Worthing () is a seaside town in West Sussex, England, at the foot of the South Downs, west of Brighton, and east of Chichester.
