Antelope Dam or ''Antelope Valley Dam'' (National ID # CA00037) is a dam in Plumas County, California, part of the California State Water Project. The earthen dam was constructed in 1964 by the California Department of Water Resources with a height of and a length of at its crest. It impounds Indian Creek for water storage, recreation and wildlife conservation, part of the state's larger Upper Feather River Project. The dam is owned and operated by the Department. The site is surrounded by the Plumas National Forest. The reservoir it creates, called Antelope Lake or Antelope Reservoir, has a water surface of , a forested shoreline of about , a maximum capacity of , and a normal capacity of . Plumas County () is a county in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 19,790. The county seat is Quincy, and the only incorporated city is Portola. The largest community in the county is East Quincy. The county was named for the Spanish ''Río de las Plumas'' (the Feather River), which flows through it. The county itself is also the namesake of a native moth species, ''Hadena plumasata''. Walker Fire
The Walker Fire was a wildfire that burned near Genesee Valley in the Plumas National Forest approximately 11 miles east of the community of Taylorsville in Plumas County, California. The blaze was reported on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 and immediately expanded in size over its several days of burning. The fire actively threatened homes from Genesee Valley to Antelope Road. Events Early in the afternoon of Wednesday, September 4, a fire was reported burning southeast of the Flournoy Bridge just outside Genesee Valley. First responders estimated the size of the fire to be roughly between 3 and 5 acres, however, burning with a critical rate of spread due to strong and erratic winds.
