Reports of cases in the Court of Exchequer, from E.T. 32, Geo. III., to T.T. 37, Geo. III. is the title of a collection of nominate reports, by Alexander Anstruther, of cases decided by the Court of Exchequer Chamber and the House of Lords between approximately 1792 and 1797. For the purpose of citation their name may be abbreviated to "Anst". They are in three volumes. Nominate Reports
Nominate reports, also known as nominative reports, named reports and private reports, is a legal term from common-law jurisdictions referring to the various published collections of reports of English cases in various courts from the Middle Ages to the 1860s, when law reporting was officially taken over by the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting, for example Edmund F. Moore's ''Reports of Cases Heard and Determined by the Judicial Committee and the Lords of His Majesty's most Honourable Privy Council on Appeal from the Supreme and Sudder Dewanny Courts in the East Indies'' published in London from 1837 to 1873, referred to as '' Moore's Indian Appeals'' and cited for example as: ''Moofti Mohummud Ubdoollah'' v. Alexander Anstruther (judge)
Sir Alexander Anstruther (10 September 1769 – 16 July 1819) was a Scottish judge in India during the East India Company administration of the Madras and Bombay Presidencies. Life Anstruther was the second son of Sir Robert Anstruther, 3rd Baronet, of Balcaskie, Fife. He was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn, and published ' Reports of Cases argued and determined in the Court of Exchequer, from Easter Term 32 George III to Trinity Term 37 George III, both inclusive,' which were published in three volumes in 1796 and 1797, and were reprinted for a second edition in 1817. Anstruther went out to India in 1798, and was appointed Advocate-General of Madras in 1803. In March 1812 he succeeded Sir John Henry Newbolt as Recorder of Bombay, and was knighted. While on his voyage out to India he wrote a small work on ''Light, Heat, and Electricity''. Court Of Exchequer Chamber
The Court of Exchequer Chamber was an England, English appellate court for common law civil actions before the reforms of the Judicature Acts of 1873–1875. It originated in the fourteenth century, established in its final form by a statute of 1585. The court heard references from the Court of King's Bench (England), King's Bench, the Exchequer of Pleas, Court of Exchequer and, from 1830, directly rather than indirectly from the Court of Common Pleas (England), Court of Common Pleas. It was constituted of four judges belonging to the two courts that had been uninvolved at Court of first instance, first instance. In cases of exceptional importance such as the ''Case of Mines'' (1568) and ''ship money, R v Hampden'' (1637) twelve common law judges, four from each division below, sitting in Exchequer Chamber, might be asked to determine a point of law, the matter being referred by the court hearing the case rather than the parties.
