Ansel Watrous (November 1, 1835August 6, 1927) was an American newspaper editor and historian. A longtime resident of Fort Collins, Colorado, Watrous is noted for ''History of Larimer County, Colorado'' (1911), the first comprehensive published history of Larimer County, Colorado. Conklin, New York
Conklin is a town in Broome County, New York, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 5,008. The town is on the south border of the county, southeast of Binghamton. History The area was first settled around 1788. The Town of Conklin was established in 1824 from the town of Chenango by Nicholas Conklin (1782–1858). The town exchanged territories with adjacent towns before establishing its modern boundaries. Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins
Grandview Cemetery is a cemetery in Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado. The land for the cemetery was purchased in 1887; at the time it was west of the city limits of Fort Collins. Mountain Home Cemetery had been used prior to this, but it was closer to town, and with the population of Fort Collins rapidly expanding it was deemed necessary to find another location farther from town. Jerome Anthony Watrous (September 6, 1840June 5, 1922) was an American journalist, historian, and soldier. He served with the Iron Brigade of the Army of the Potomac throughout the American Civil War, and later served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Early life Born in Conklin, New York, Watrous moved with his parents to Wisconsin in 1844. He returned to New York from 1850 until 1857. At that time he moved back to Wisconsin and settled in Calumet County, where he taught school for two years. Journalism career Watrous attended Lawrence College (now Lawrence University) for one semester, and briefly worked on the editorial staff of the '' Menasha Conservator'' and the ''Appleton Crescent'', a forerunner of the '' Appleton Post-Crescent''. William Frisbie Watrous (August 10, 1825July 18, 1910) was an American fruit farmer and pioneer of Wisconsin and Colorado. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Calumet County during the 1862 session. He later served fourteen years on the Colorado Board of Agriculture and was instrumental in funding construction of Colorado Agricultural College. Biography William F. Watrous was born on August 10, 1825, in Bridgewater Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. At age 6, he moved with his parents to Broome County, New York, where he was raised and educated. The Roosevelt National Forest is a National Forest located in north central Colorado. It is contiguous with the Colorado State Forest as well as the Arapaho National Forest and the Routt National Forest.
