Annie Genevard
Annie Genevard (née Tharin, 7 September 1956) is a French politician who has represented the 5th constituency of the Doubs department in the National Assembly since 2012. She served as secretary-general of The Republicans (LR) from 2017 to 2019 under successive party leaders Laurent Wauquiez and Christian Jacob. Since 4 July 2022, she has been ''ad interim'' party leader following the resignation of Jacob, in her role as first party vice president (French: ''vice-présidente déléguée''), which she has held since 6 July 2021. A teacher by occupation, Genevard was Mayor of Morteau from 2002 until 2017. Family A native of Audincourt, Genevard is the daughter of Irène Tharin, who served in the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007, representing the fourth constituency of Doubs as a member of the Union for a Popular Movement, which would be renamed The Republicans in 2015. The Republicans (french: Les Républicains, ; LR) is a liberal-conservative political party in France, largely inspired by the Gaullist tradition. It holds Pro-Europeanism, pro-European views. History and profile A sports news magazine, ''Match l'intran'' (a play on ''L'Intransigeant''), was launched on 9 November 1926 by Léon Bailby. The 2021 The Republicans (LR) congress, also known as the Congress for France ( French: ''Congrès pour la France''), was an organised internal primary held from 1 to 4 December. It was organised by the party in order to nominate the candidate that would represent it in the 2022 presidential election. François Fillon
François Charles Armand Fillon (; born 4 March 1954) is a retired French politician who served as Prime Minister of France from 2007 to 2012 under President Nicolas Sarkozy. He was the nominee of the Republicans (previously known as the Union for a Popular Movement), the country's largest centre-right political party, for the 2017 presidential election where he ranked third in the first round of voting. 2017 French Presidential Election
The 2017 French presidential election was held on 23 April and 7 May 2017. As no candidate won a majority in the first round, a runoff was held between the top two candidates, Emmanuel Macron of En Marche! (EM) and Marine Le Pen of the National Front (FN), which Macron won with a difference of more than 30% of the vote. The Republicans held a presidential primary election, officially called the open primary of the right and centre (french: primaire ouverte de la droite et du centre), to select a candidate for the 2017 presidential election. It took place on 20 November 2016, with a runoff on 27 November since no candidate obtained at least 50% of the vote in the first round. It was the first time an open primary had been held for The Republicans or its predecessor parties. Richard Ferrand
Richard Ferrand (; born 1 July 1962) is a French politician of La République En Marche! (LREM) who served as President of the National Assembly from 2018 to 2022. He had served as a member of the National Assembly for Finistère's 6th constituency from 2012 to 2022. François Henri Goullet de Rugy (; born 6 December 1973) is a French politician who served as President of the National Assembly from 2017 to 2018 and Minister of Ecological and Solidary Transition from 2018 to 2019.
