Annick Ménardo
Annick Ménardo is a contemporary perfumer who has worked for the fragrance firm Firmenich since 1991. Education Ménardo has a background in biochemistry and medicine. She studied perfumery and is a graduate of the French perfume academy ISIPCA. She was mentored by Michel Almairac while working at Créations Aromatiques, and her early work is influenced by his style. Career Ménardo worked with sculptor Nobi Shioya in his /7S/ olfactory art installation. She created the scent for the sculpture "Anger". Perfumer
A perfumer is an expert on creating perfume compositions, sometimes referred to affectionately as a ''nose'' (French: ''nez'') due to their fine sense of smell and skill in producing olfactory compositions. The perfumer is effectively an artist who is trained in depth on the concepts of fragrance aesthetics and who is capable of conveying abstract concepts and moods with compositions. At the most rudimentary level, a perfumer must have a keen knowledge of a large variety of fragrance ingredients and their smells, and be able to distinguish each one alone or in combination with others. Penhaligon's is a British perfume house. It was founded in the late 1860s by William Henry Penhaligon, a Cornish barber who moved to London and who became Court Barber and Perfumer to Queen Victoria. History Penhaligon's started life as a barber within the London and Provincial Turkish Baths, 76 Jermyn Street, an important homosocial space in the 'inner sanctum of the masculine city'. As was typical of barbers at the time, Penhaligon created his own products to sell to his clients, many of whom were politicians of the age. Loris Azzaro (9 February 1933 – 20 November 2003) was a French-Italian fashion designer. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with his flamboyant dresses and he went on to become well known for his perfumes. Life and career Loris Azzaro was born to Italian parents in Tunis, Tunisia on 9 February 1933. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Tunis. In 1957, Azzaro met his future wife Michelle Carsy, who became his muse and he designed accessories for her. Azzaro studied in Toulouse, France. He was teaching French and Italian in Tunis before he relocated to Paris, France in 1962. In 1965, Azzaro opened his first workshop, designing bags, belts, and embroidered tops.
