Frédéric Dambier
Frédéric Dambier (born 26 December 1977) is a French figure skater. He is a four-time French national silver medalist and competed at two Olympic Games. He twice placed fourth at the European Figure Skating Championships. He is the first French skater to land a quadruple salchow in competition. Career Dambier started skating when he was about six or seven years old when a neighbor took him to the small ice rink of Joué les Tours. In practice, he landed his first triple jump, the salchow, at 14, and his first quad salchow when he was 19. He became the first French skater to perform the quad salchow in competition when he landed it at the 1999 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. Dambier was coached by Annick Gailhaguet, Pierre Trente, Diana Skotnicka and Li Ping, and his choreographers included Olga Leonovich, Shanti Rushpaul and Alexander Zhulin from 2003 to 2006. Nelson Monfort (born March 12, 1953) is a French sports journalist, linguist and television host. TV and radio career After his studies at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, Monfort began his career as a sports journalist by commenting figure skating events. A Frenchman of American heritage, he is fluent in English in addition to his native French, and can also speak Spanish, Italian and German, which helped him in his career as he was able to interview various international athletes. Among his most famous interviews are that of Martina Navratilova in 1987, Carl Lewis, Bill Clinton at Roland Garros in 2001 and sprinter Michael Johnson during the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Didier Gailhaguet (born 22 August 1953) is a French former Figure skating, figure skater, coach and official. He served as the president of the French Federation of Ice Sports, Fédération française des sports de glace (FFSG) from 1998 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2020. He was suspended each time because of related scandals. At the peak of his power, he was one of figure skating's most influential and controversial officials, dubbed the "little Napoleon." Florent Amodio (born 12 May 1990) is a French figure skating coach and former competitor. He is the 2011 European champion, a four-time French national champion (2010, 2013-2015), and the 2008 JGP Final champion. He has represented France at two Winter Olympics. Personal life Florent Amodio was born in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil. A French couple adopted him as an infant, along with his sister. He was raised in Fremainville, Val-d'Oise. Vincent Restencourt (born 28 July 1981) is a French former competitive figure skater. He is a three-time World Junior medalist, the 1998-1999 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, the 1999 Trophée Lalique silver medalist, and the 2000 Ondrej Nepela Memorial champion. Career Restencourt started to skate at the age of 6, having been introduced to the activity by his sister, who also competed in figure skating. He represented the Champigny club and was coached by André Brunet. He was the first French skater to land a quadruple jump, a toe loop, in competition.
