Annette DiMeo Carlozzi is an American curator of contemporary art based in Austin, Texas. Raised in suburban Boston, she graduated from Brandeis University in 1975 with a BA degree in Art History, magna cum laude, studying with Professors Carl Belz, Gerald Bernstein, and Stephen Whitfield. A first-generation college student, she received a full scholarship to and attended the MA program in Museum Studies at the University of Minnesota. From 1976 to 1978, Carlozzi began her professional training as a Curatorial/Education Fellow at Walker Art Center in Minneapolis under the mentorship of Director Martin Friedman. Rafael Ferrer (artist)
Rafael Ferrer (born 1933) is a Puerto Rican artist. He was a 1993 recipient of a Pew Fellowship in the Arts and a 2011 recipient of an Annalee and Barnett Newman Foundation Grant. Life From an early age, Ferrer traveled between Puerto Rico and the United States, studying in his teens at Staunton Military Academy, and then at Syracuse University from 1951 to 1953. Since his years at Staunton, he learned to play drums, which began his involvement with Afro-Cuban music. At Syracuse, fellow students introduced him to the world of art through books, causing a failed attempt to register in the Art Department. During his vacations he would travel to New York City, where he would stay with his half-brother, the Academy Award winner actor, José Ferrer, whom he would accompany to Jazz clubs, meeting many of the musicians who were friends of his brother. Luis Alfonso Jiménez Jr. (July 30, 1940 – June 13, 2006) was an American sculptor of Mexican descent. Known for portraying Hispanic-American themes, his works have been displayed at the Smithsonian and at Denver International Airport. Education Born in El Paso, Texas, he worked at his father's neon sign studio as a child. He studied art and architecture at the University of Texas in Austin and El Paso, earning a bachelor's degree in 1964. Robert Smithson
Robert Smithson (January 2, 1938 – July 20, 1973) was an American artist known for sculpture and land art who often used drawing and photography in relation to the spatial arts.
