Annette Campbell-White
Annette J. Campbell-White is a New Zealand-born venture capitalist. Biography Campbell-White was born in New Zealand and attended the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Physical Chemistry. She was the first biotechnology analyst on Wall Street and the first female partner at Hambrecht & Quist, a leading investment banking firm. Campbell-White founded MedVenture Associates, a biomedical venture capital firm, in 1986 and was a senior managing director at the firm until her retirement in 2015. In 2019, she published her memoir, ''Beyond Market Value: A Memoir of Book Collecting and the World of Venture Capital.'' Hambrecht & Quist (H&Q) was an investment bank based in San Francisco, California noted for its focus on the technology and Internet sectors. H&Q was founded by Bill Hambrecht and George Quist in California, in 1968. H&Q was an early player in the technology sector, underwriting initial public offerings (IPOs) for Apple Computer, Genentech, and Adobe Systems in the 1980s. In the 1990s, H&Q also backed the IPOs of Netscape, MP3.com, and Amazon.com. San Francisco Opera (SFO) is an American opera company founded in 1923 by Gaetano Merola (1881–1953) based in San Francisco, California.
