Anne Nunes
Anne Nunes (born 30 May 1969) is a United States lawn bowls international. Bowls career In 2001, Nunes won a pairs bronze medal at the Asia Pacific Bowls Championships, 14 years later she won a second medal at the Championships winning a fours silver medal in Christchurch, New Zealand. Nunes competed at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch and four years later in 2020, was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, she was selected again as part of the team to represent the USA at the 2023 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. She participated in the women's singles and the women's pairs events. Shortly after the World Championships and still on the Gold Coast, Nunes was a surprise winner of the World Singles Champion of Champions title to become the first US winner of the event. World Singles Champion Of Champions
The World Singles Champion of Champions is an event inaugurated in 2003 that is contested annually between bowlers who have won their respective national singles title. The event was first held in 2003 at the Moama Bowling Club in Moama, Australia. Traditionally the competition favours the Southern Hemisphere players due to the fact that the Northern Hemisphere players have to travel to the event and compete on faster greens. Asia Pacific Bowls Championships
The Asia Pacific Bowls Championships formerly the Pacific Rim Championships was a bowls, lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Asia Pacific region. The event was inaugurated in 1985, and it was initially held every two years but then took place every four years and was a qualifying event for the World Bowls Championship, World Outdoor Bowls Championships. In 2021, the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was officially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. World Bowls then decided that the World Championships would take place every two years starting in 2023. The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. There were to be eight events that determined the 2021 world champions, the men's singles, doubles, triples and fours and the women's singles, doubles, triples and fours and in addition there are two overall team winners who receive the Leonard and Taylor trophies respectively. It was originally scheduled from 23 May to 7 June 2020 but the event was officially cancelled on 9 March 2021. Lucy Kate Beere (born 7 July 1982) is a Guernsey international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Outdoors She has represented Guernsey at four Commonwealth Games; competing in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she won a silver medal in the singles event.
