''Anne Murray's Greatest Hits'' is the second compilation album by the Canadian country pop artist Anne Murray, of the same name, released in 1980 via Capitol Records. It is a collection of nine previously issued singles released between 1970 and 1980, as well as one new track, "Could I Have This Dance", which was newly recorded for this album (and simultaneously appeared on the soundtrack to the film '' Urban Cowboy''). Though Murray's fourth compilation album,'' Greatest Hits'' was the first collection of her biggest charting singles, from her breakthrough Top 10 smash, "Snowbird", through 1980. Morna Anne Murray (born June 20, 1945) is a retired Canadian singer. Her albums, consisting primarily of pop, country, and adult contemporary music, have sold over 55 million copies worldwide during her over 40-year career. Murray was the first Canadian female solo singer to reach No. 1 on the U.S. charts and also the first to earn a Gold record for one of her signature songs, "Snowbird" (1970). Murray is also well known for her Grammy Award-winning 1978 number 1 US hit "You Needed Me". Charlie Black
Charles Frank Black (November 23, 1949 – April 23, 2021) was an American country music songwriter and record producer. Biography Black graduated from University of Maryland in 1970 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee the same year. His first cut was "Girl, You Came and Eased My Mind" by Tommy Overstreet. Since then, he wrote singles for Anne Murray, Gary Morris, Earl Thomas Conley, Johnny Paycheck, and Phil Vassar. In 1991, the Nashville Songwriters Association International inducted Black into its hall of fame. Black was also an occasional record producer. He produced early recordings by Cristy Lane, including her 1978 studio albums ''Cristy Lane Is the Name'' and '' Love Lies''. Black was married to Dana Hunt, who is also a songwriter. ''New Kind of Feeling'' is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian Country music, country and Pop music, pop vocalist Anne Murray, issued in January 1979 on Capitol Records. The recording continued her chart success from the previous year's ''Let's Keep It That Way'', with the newer album hitting #2 and #23 on the United States Country and Pop album charts, respectively. Stephen Hartley Dorff (born April 21, 1949) is an American songwriter and composer whose work is mainly in the field of country music. Career Dorff has written several songs for other artists, including "Hypnotize the Moon" and " My Heart Will Never Know" for Clay Walker, " The Man in Love with You" and " I Cross My Heart" by George Strait, " Don't Underestimate My Love for You" by Lee Greenwood, "Every Which Way but Loose" by Eddie Rabbitt and " Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers. "I Just Fall in Love Again" is a song written by Larry Herbstritt, with co-writers Steve Dorff, Harry Lloyd, and Gloria Sklerov. Herbstritt had composed the melody and chords for the chorus and a chord progression for the verse, which he took to his friend Steve Dorff. Harry Lloyd and Gloria Sklerov completed the lyrics. The song was originally recorded by the Carpenters and later covered by Dusty Springfield, and Anne Murray, who was unaware Springfield had recorded it just 6 months prior. The Carpenters' version The Carpenters' version was included on the duo's 1977 album ''Passage''. ''Let's Keep It That Way'' is the 12th studio album by Anne Murray, released in February 1978. On the Canadian charts the album topped both the country and pop album charts. In the U.S., the album returned Murray to the top ten on the country album chart, a height she had not reached since 1974's '' Highly Prized Possession''; on the pop album chart, the album reached No. 12 (and would ultimately be the highest-charting album of Murray's career on that chart). Goodrum has written number one songs in each of the four decades since his first number one hit, 1978's "You Needed Me".
