Anne Marie Pohtamo
Anne Marie Pohtamo (born 15 August 1955) is a Finnish actress, model and beauty queen who was the second woman from Finland to capture the Miss Universe crown. She claimed the Miss Universe crown in 1975 at the pageant held in El Salvador. Pohtamo was crowned by Miss Universe 1972 Kerry Anne Wells, not by her predecessor Amparo Muñoz, as Muñoz resigned after six months reign, when she refused a trip to Japan. From the very beginning, she was a big favorite during the pageant. After the reigning year as Miss Universe, Pohtamo worked as a fashion model at Wilhelmina Model Agency in New York for 5 years. However, in the midst of her rising career, she returned to Finland in 1981 and worked in fashion and beauty business for decades. She got religion in 1992 and has been an evangelist and lecturer ever since. Miss Finland
Miss Suomi (Finnish for ''Miss Finland'') is a national beauty pageant in Finland. The pageant was founded in 1931, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe. History Miss Suomi was held for the first time in 1931. Between 1952 and 1955 the winner of Suomen Neito went to Miss Universe, where Armi Kuusela was also crowned as the first Miss Universe in Long Beach by actress Piper Laurie in 1952. In 1956 due to lack of sponsorship, the national pageant of Suomen Neito was not held and made Finland withdraw from the competition. In 1960 Finland returned to Miss Universe with the second runner-up of Miss Suomi 1960, Maija-Leena Manninen, representing the country. In 1961 the format was changed by Miss Suomi Organization to send its winner to Miss Universe competition, and reformatted in 1962 to 1963 the first princess of Miss Suomi went to Miss Universe. Wilnelia, Lady Forsyth-Johnson (''née'' Merced; born 12 October 1957) is a Puerto Rican former actress, model and beauty queen. She won Miss World 1975, and was married to entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth from 1983 until his death in August 2017. Career Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, she won Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico 1975 and went on to win Miss World 1975 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She remained the only Puerto Rican to win the title until Stephanie Del Valle won Miss World 2016 after serving as a judge for the pageant. Miss Universe 1975, the 24th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 19 July 1975 at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda, National Gymnasium in San Salvador, El Salvador. Anne Marie Pohtamo won the title for Finland, thus making her the second Finnish woman to win the Miss Universe crown after Armi Kuusela, who was the first Miss Universe winner, in 1952. After Spain's Amparo Muñoz resigned the previous year, her successor was crowned by Miss Universe 1972, Kerry Anne Wells of Australia. The political backdrop to the 1975 Miss Universe pageant was not a happy one, however. According to the New York Times, August 5, "while a worldwide television audience saw El Salvador’s sunny beaches before the “Miss Universe” finals July 19, off-camera heavily armed troops were called out to halt demonstrations by students protesting the Government's expenditure of $1-million on the contest".
