Anne Bierwirth
Anne Bierwirth is a German contralto, focused on concerts and recordings of sacred music, appearing internationally. Besides the standard repertoire such as Bach's ''Christmas Oratorio'', she has explored rarely performed Baroque music such as Bach's '' St Mark Passion'' and Reinhard Keiser's Passion oratorio ''Der blutige und sterbende Christus''. Career Bierwirth was born in Unkel, where she grew up and received first singing lessons from the church musician K. Wester. She won the national competition Jugend musiziert in 1998. Jörg Breiding
Jörg Breiding (born 1972) is a German choral conductor and academic teacher. He has been the conductor of the Knabenchor Hannover since 2002. He taught at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, and has been professor of choral conducting at the Folkwang Hochschule. Career Born in Hannover, Breiding studied music pedagogy, voice pedagogy and German at the Musikhochschule Hannover. He also studied conducting choirs and orchestras with Gerd Müller-Lorenz in Lübeck and Heinz Hennig in Hannover. After one year as the assistant of Hennig, who had founded the Knabenchor Hannover in 1950, he succeeded Hennig as artistic director of the boys' choir in January 2002. Breiding lectured on choral conducting at the Musikhochschule Lübeck from 1998 to 2005. Knabenchor Hannover
The Knabenchor Hannover (Hannover Boys' Choir) is a boys choir founded in 1950 by Heinz Hennig, who served as conductor until the end of 2001. Since 2002, the conductor has been Jörg Breiding. L'arpa Festante
is a German chamber orchestra, specializing in the revival and performance of unknown works, especially from the Baroque music, Baroque era. It was established in Munich in 1983 by Michi Gaigg, who also led the ensemble as concertmaster until 1995. Markus Flaig
Markus Flaig (born 1971) is a German bass-baritone who has focused on concerts and recordings of sacred music. Career Markus Flaig was born in Horb am Neckar. He studied sacred music and school music, then voice with Beata Heuer-Christen in Freiburg and with Berthold Possemeyer at the Hochschule für Musik Frankfurt. Since 2006 he has worked with Carol Meyer-Bruetting. In 2004, he was awarded a prize at the international Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig in the voice category. Evangelist (Bach)
The Evangelist in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is the tenor part in his oratorios and Passions who narrates the exact words of the Bible, translated by Martin Luther, in recitative secco. The part appears in the works ''St John Passion'', ''St Matthew Passion'', and the ''Christmas Oratorio'', as well as the '' St Mark Passion'' and the ''Ascension Oratorio Lobet Gott in seinen Reichen, BWV 11''. Some cantatas also contain recitatives of Bible quotations, assigned to the tenor voice. Bach followed a tradition using the tenor for the narrator of a gospel.
