Annaberg-Lungötz is a municipality in the district of Hallein District, Hallein, in the Austrian state of Salzburg (state), Salzburg. Geography The municipality lies in the Lammer River valley at the foot of the Gosaukamm. History It belonged for centuries to the Pongau. Only in 1896, when Hallein became a district capital, did the municipality become part of the Tennengau. Annaberg-Buchholz
Annaberg-Buchholz () is a town in Saxony, Germany. Lying in the Ore Mountains, it is the capital of the district of Erzgebirgskreis. Geography The town is located in the Ore Mountains, at the side of the ''Pöhlberg'' ( above sea level). History The previously heavily forested upper Ore Mountains were settled in the 12th and 13th centuries by Franconian farmers. Frohnau, Geyersdorf, and Kleinrückerswalde—all now part of present-day town—are all attested from 1397. Barbara Uthmann introduced braid- and lace-making in 1561 and it was further developed in the 1590s by Belgian refugees fleeing the policies of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba, Spain's governor over the Low Countries. The industry was further developed in the 19th century, when Annaberg and Buchholz were connected by rail to Chemnitz and each other and both settlements had specialized schools for lace-making. Annaberg is a former district in Saxony, Germany. It was bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the Czech Republic and the districts of Aue-Schwarzenberg, Stollberg and Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis. Its colors are pink, green, and blue. History In the Middle Ages the Ore Mountains were virtually unsettled and covered by dense forests. The towns of Annaberg and Buchholz (merged in 1945 to form Annaberg-Buchholz) were founded by the turn of the 16th century due to the discovery of silver and tin deposits. Góra Świętej Anny
Góra Świętej Anny (; german: Sankt Annaberg ; sli, Anaberg; szl, Świyntŏ Anna; all names meaning " Saint Anne's Mountain") is a village in the Opole Voivodeship, in southern Poland. The village is located on the hill from which its name derives. A popular sanctuary, with a statue of Saint Anne and a calvary, is located on its top. The settlement lies within the protected area called Góra Świętej Anny Landscape Park. This is also one of the official Polish Historical Monuments (''Pomnik historii''). History Following World War I and the re-emergence of the sovereign Poland, while still part of the Weimar Republic, the hill was the site of the Battle of Annaberg in 1921 during the Silesian Uprisings. Góra Świętej Anny () or St. Anne Mountain (german: St. Annaberg; sli, Anaberg; szl, Świyntŏ Anna) is an inselberg in Upper Silesia, Poland, next to the community of the same name. It is the location of the Franciscan monastery with the miraculous statue of St. Anne and the imposing calvary, which is an important destination for Roman Catholic pilgrimage. It has been a strategic location important to both German and Polish nationalists, and in 1921 it was the site of the Battle of Annaberg, commemorated in the Third Reich by the construction of a Thingstätte (Amphitheatre) and a mausoleum. The theatre remains, but the Nazi mausoleum was destroyed and replaced with a monument to those who took part in the Third Silesian Uprising. The Battle of (the) Annaberg ( pl, Bitwa o Górę Św. Anny) was the biggest battle of the Silesian Uprisings. The battle, which took place between May 21–26, 1921, was fought at the Annaberg (Polish: ''Góra Św. Anny''), a strategic hill near the village of Annaberg O.S. (''Góra Świętej Anny''), located southeast of Oppeln (Opole) in Upper Silesia, Weimar Germany. After the hill had been captured by irregular Polish-Silesian units in the Third Silesian Uprising, German Freikorps pushed the Polish forces back.
