Anna Sahlström
Hanna (Anna) Maria Sahlström (1876–1956) was a Swedish painter and graphic artist. In 1905, she began studying under Richard Bergh and Karl Nordström at the school run by the Artists' Association (Konstnärsförbundet), later developing expertise in woodcuts under Tekla Nordström. By 1911, she could exhibit her work in Gothenburg and at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, Art Academy. Emulating Paul Gauguin and Wassily Kandinsky, she adopted an abstract, stylized approach. Sweden's Nationalmuseet has 15 of her woodcuts in its collection. Biography Born on 7 January 1876 on a farm near Torsby, Fryksände, Hanna Maria Sahlström was the daughter of the forester and politician Per Sahlström (1834–1917) and his wife Marit née Nilsdotter. She was one of the family's eight children. Karlstad (, ) is the List of urban areas in Sweden by population, 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. Eva Jancke-Björk
Eva Henriette Jancke-Björk (1882–1981) was a Swedish ceramist, painter and textile artist. She became a prominent porcelain designer, working for Rörstrand, and before establishing her own business in Mölndal near Gothenburg. She produced simply designed bowls, flower pots and tableware, both decorated and monochrome. Jancke-Björk also painted watercolours, created textile patterns and worked with glassware. Her works are in the collections of the Nationalmuseum, Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts and the Röhsska Museum. Elsa Maria Giöbel-Oyler (1882-1979) was a Swedish painter. Biography Giöbel-Oyler was born in the small hamlet of Hällefors, Sweden to father, Adrian Giöbel and mother, Maria Matilda Carolina Giöbel. She had three sisters, Anna Maria Björk, Louise Maria Hayward and Gerda Maria Lummis; and two brothers, Karl Fredrik Giöbel and Christian Gunnar Giöbel. Her aunt, Selma Giöbel, was a well-known textile artist. In 1911, she married the writer, Philip Oyler, and in 1913 they had a daughter, Soldanella Oyler, who became an illustrator. Konstnärsförbundets Skola
was a painting school in Stockholm, Sweden, which was offered by ('the Artists' Society') 1890–1908. The latter association was in turn established in opposition to the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. One of the school's co-founders was Richard Bergh. The school had several well-known teachers, including Anders Zorn, Nils Kreuger and Karl Nordström, in addition to Bergh himself. Several of the alumni would distinguish themselves on the contemporary Swedish visual arts scene. The group ', for example, consisted mainly of pupils from the school.
