Ann Pfau
Ann Pfau is an American jurist and former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York (state), New York. Early life and education She graduated from Wells College in 1970. She later received an MA from Columbia University in 1973 and a JD from the Brooklyn Law School in 1984. Legal career Pfau began her legal career in Counsel's Office of the Office of Court Administration. She was appointed in 1997 as an Interim Judge of the New York City Civil Court and in 1998 as a Judge of the New York City Criminal Court. She currently is an Acting Supreme Court Justice in the New York Supreme Court, Second Judicial District. Judge Pfau served as First Deputy Chief Administrative Judge of New York until her appointment as Chief Administrative Judge and prior to that was the Administrative Judge of the Supreme Court, Second Judicial District. The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is a voluntary bar association for the state of New York. The mission of the association is to cultivate the science of jurisprudence; promote reform in the law; facilitate the administration of justice; and elevate the standards of integrity, honor, professional skill, and courtesy in the legal profession. History NYSBA was founded on November 21, 1876 in Albany, New York, and then incorporated on May 2, 1877 by an act of the state legislature. Its first president was David B. Hill. New York State Unified Court System
The Judiciary of New York (officially the New York State Unified Court System) is the judicial branch of the Government of New York, comprising all the courts of the State of New York (excluding extrajudicial administrative courts). The Court of Appeals, sitting in Albany and consisting of seven judges, is the state's highest court. The Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court is the principal intermediate appellate court. The New York State Supreme Court is the trial court of general jurisdiction in civil cases statewide and in criminal cases in New York City. Outside New York City, the 57 individual County Courts hear felony criminal cases.
