Anloo
Anloo is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Aa en Hunze, and lies about 10 km east of Assen. History The village was first mentioned in 1139 as Anloe. The etymology in unclear. Anloo is an ''esdorp'' which developed in the Early Middle Ages on the Hondsrug. It was the capital of the ' (medieval judicial area) Oostermoer, one of six ''dingspel''s of Drenthe. The village has two ''brinks'' (village squares). The eastern square contains the church on an elevated position. The western square is elongated and contained the former ''havezate'' (manor house) Elentsborg which was demolished in 1838. The Magnus Church dates from around 1100 and was a replacement of a wooden church. It was extended several times during its history. The spire of the tower 1757. Strubben–Kniphorstbos
The Strubben–Kniphorstbos is a nature reserve of 377 hectares, located between Anloo and Schipborg in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is the only archaeological reserve in the Netherlands. The park's composite name is derived from the 'stubby' oaks in the area, and by , who was in the 19th century the owner of the then heathlands. Beginning in 1938, the site was for the most part of the 20th century used as a military training ground. Reserve In 2006 the area was placed under the administration of Staatsbosbeheer and designated as an archaeological national monument. The layout of the forest was then managed according to the landscape approach, taking into account the historical land use in different periods. As a nature reserve, the reserve partly falls under the Drentsche Aa area, a Natura 2000 area. Harm Brouwer (born 4 April 1957) is a Dutch politician who was a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party between 6 July 2016 and 23 March 2017. Annen
Annen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Located in the municipality of Aa en Hunze, it lies about 12 km (7.4 mi) northeast of Assen. History The village was first mentioned in 1309 as Anne. The etymology is unknown. Annen is an ''esdorp'' without a church which developed in the Early Middle Ages on the Hondsrug. It was a large triangular ''brink'' (village square) in the south-western corner of the village. The town hall of the municipality of Anloo used to be located in Annen. It is a wide neoclassic building from 1895 which also contained the residential home of the mayor. Annen was home to 419 people in 1840. The Reformed Church was built in 1954. It was decommissioned in 1980, and now serves as village house and is used by the local veterinarian. Drenthe () is a province of the Netherlands located in the northeastern part of the country. It is bordered by Overijssel to the south, Friesland to the west, Groningen to the north, and the German state of Lower Saxony to the east. Assen Railway Station
Assen (; abbreviation: Asn) is a railway station located in Assen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1870 and is located on the Meppel–Groningen railway. The station is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. A new station building was opened in 2020, featuring a large wooden triangular roof with windows allowing light down to the indoor spaces and platforms, replacing the previous building from 1988. From 1902 until 1947 there was also a railway line to Gasselternijveen, where trains connected to the railway line to Stadskanaal. Future The railway station and station area, is to be upgraded along with other public works around the city of Assen, such as the creation of a harbour quarter, joining up the canal system through the city and creation of a city boulevard.
