Anjuman (1986 Film)
''Anjuman'' (English: ''Congregation'') is a 1986 Hindi drama film directed by Muzaffar Ali, starring Shabana Azmi, Farooque Shaikh and Rohini Hattangadi in lead roles. Set in Lucknow, it deals with exploitation of women and problems of local " chikan" embroidery workers. ''Anjuman'' has music by Khayyam, with lyrics by noted Urdu poet Shahryar, with three songs sung by lead actress Shabana Azmi, who agreed to do playback singing. Noted actor Farooque Shaikh worked in three films with Muzaffar Ali, with the others being ''Gaman'' (1978) and '' Umrao Jaan'' (1981). Muzaffar Ali
Muzaffar Ali (born 21 October 1944) is an Indian filmmaker, fashion designer, poet, artist, cultural revivalist, and social worker. Biography Ali was born in Lucknow in 1944. The eldest son of Raja Syed Sajid Husain Ali, the ruling prince of the principality of Kotwara in Awadh, Muzaffar Ali attended La Martiniere, Lucknow, and graduated in science from Aligarh Muslim University. Ali worked in advertising before turning to film. His first films were ''Gaman'' (1978) and '' Umrao Jaan'' (1981), and he also made and starred in the TV series ''Jaan-e-Alam''. He later became a fashion designer, creating a fashion label with his wife, Meera, in 1990. Muzaffar Ali is presently married to Meera Ali, a fashion designer, with whom he has a daughter Sama, who is also a fashion designer. Faiz Ahmad ''Faiz'' (13 February 1911 – 20 November 1984; Urdu, Punjabi: فیض احمد فیض) was a Pakistani poet, and author of Urdu and Punjabi literature. Faiz was one of the most celebrated Pakistani Urdu writers of his time. Outside literature, he has been described as "a man of wide experience" having been a teacher, an army officer, a journalist, a trade unionist and a broadcaster. Bhupinder Singh (born Bhupinder Soin, 6 February 1940 – 18 July 2022) was an Indian musician, a ghazal singer and also a Bollywood playback singer. Early life Bhupinder Singh was born in Amritsar, Punjab to Natha Singhji, a musician and his introducer to music. Bhupinder's father was a stern teacher, and at one point, he detested music and its instruments. Music career Singh started his career as a casual artist for All India Radio under the direction of Satish Bhatia. He also worked at Doordarshan Center, New Delhi. He also learnt guitar. In 1962, music director Madan Mohan heard him at a dinner hosted by Satish Bhatia in his honour (Satish Bhatia was Producer in AIR Delhi and Singh was working under him as a guitarist), and called him to Bombay.
