Southern Finland
Southern Finland ( fi, Etelä-Suomen lääni, sv, Södra Finlands län) was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Western Finland and Eastern Finland. It also bordered the Gulf of Finland and Russia. History On September 1, 1997 the Uusimaa Province, the Kymi Province and the southern parts of the Häme Province were joined to form the new Southern Finland Province. All the provinces of Finland were abolished on January 1, 2010. Administration The State Provincial Office was a joint regional authority of seven different ministries. Anjalankoski
Anjalankoski is a former town and municipality of Finland. It had 16 379 inhabitants in 2008. About 4/5 of the people live in the vicinity of the Kymi River. The most densely populated communities are Myllykoski and Inkeroinen. In addition, there is plenty of countryside. The town's major industry is forestry along the Kymi Riverside. The paper factories Stora Enso Oyj and Myllykoski Paper Oy are the main employers together with the town itself. Anjalankoski offered plenty of cultural and sport activities, including a football team, MyPa. The Anjala Manor Museum and surroundings is an interesting cultural site. The municipality was unilingually Finnish. Anjalankoski was formed in 1975 from the merging of the municipalities of Anjala and Sippola. Kouvola () is a cities of Finland, city and Municipalities of Finland, municipality in southeastern Finland. It is located along the Kymijoki, Kymijoki River in the Regions of Finland, region of Kymenlaakso, kilometers east of Lahti, west of Lappeenranta and northeast of the capital, Helsinki. Anjala Conspiracy
The Anjala conspiracy ( sv, Anjalaförbundet, fi, Anjalan liitto) of 1788 was a scheme by disgruntled Swedish officers to end Gustav III's Russian War of 1788–1790. The organization was an "informal or semi-official national school board" prior to the founding of Sweden's public education system and made a significant impact on Sweden's early education system. The Society of Swedish Literature in Finland (, abbr. SLS) is a scholarly society for the collection, archiving and dissemination of knowledge about Finland-Swedish culture. Gustaf Philip Creutz
Count Gustaf Philip Creutz (; 1 May 1731 in Anjala, Finland – 30 October 1785 in Stockholm), was a Swedish statesman, diplomat and poet. Biography Creutz was born in Finland and after concluding his studies at the Royal Academy of Turku he received a post in the Privy Council Chancery at Stockholm in 1751. Here he met Count Gustaf Fredrik Gyllenborg, with whom his name is indissolubly connected. They were closely allied with Hedvig Charlotta Nordenflycht, and their works were published in common; to their own generation they seemed equal in fame, but posterity has given the palm of genius to Creutz. His greatest work is contained in the 1762 volume, the idyll of ''Atis och Camilla''; the exquisite little pastoral entitled ''Daphne'' was published at the same time, and Gyllenborg was the first to proclaim the supremacy of his friend. Kari Juhani Rajamäki (born 15 October 1948, in Anjala) is a Finnish politician from the Social Democratic Party and a former Minister of the Interior. Rajamäki has been MP since 1983 and represents Southern Savonia. Before he became a minister he was profiled in public by demanding more funds for road construction projects. Rajamäki was the Minister of the Interior of Finland in Jäätteenmäki and Vanhanen cabinets from 2003 to 2007. During his term in office he actively contributed to get more funding for police and handling visa grants.
