Miss Gabon is a national beauty pageant in Gabon. The pageant was established in 2001 by Défis de femmes. National franchises Miss Gabon has become official national franchise of Miss Universe in Libreville since 2012. The winner automatically declares as Miss Universe Gabon and represent Gabon at the Miss Universe pageant. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age) for either contest, a runner-up is sent. The Miss Gabon is also selecting the titleholders to participate in the other Big Four international beauty pageants such as Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth and other minor international pageants such as Miss Tourism World and Miss Supranational. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Miss Universe 2014 was the 63rd Miss Universe pageant, held at the FIU Arena in Florida, United States on January 25, 2015. This was the first time in the history of the competition that the pageant was not during the year the title was awarded for. However, the pageant was still known as the 2014 pageant. At the end of the event, Gabriela Isler of Venezuela crowned Paulina Vega of Colombia as Miss Universe 2014. Miss Universe 2015 was the 64th Miss Universe pageant, held at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on December 20, 2015. This was the first edition of the pageant to be held under the ownership of WME/IMG, which purchased the Miss Universe Organization from Donald Trump on September 14, 2015. Consequently, it is also the first Miss Universe event to be aired by Fox and Azteca as the pageant's respective English and Spanish broadcasters instead of NBC.
