Angus Macdonell
Angus Macdonell of Collachie (died October 8, 1804) was a lawyer and political figure in Upper Canada. He was born in Inverness-shire, Scotland, the son of Allan McDonell and brother of Alexander Macdonell (Ontario MPP), Alexander Macdonell of Collachie, and came to the estate of Sir William Johnson, 1st Baronet, William Johnson in the Mohawk Valley of New York (state), New York in 1773 as part of a large emigration by members of the MacDonell clan. He left that area at the beginning of the American Revolution and was educated in Montreal and Quebec City. He became first clerk of the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada in 1792 and an attorney in 1794. Durham County, Ontario
Durham County (area ) is a historic county in Ontario, Canada. It was named for the English County Durham and city of Durham. It was created in 1792 but was later merged Northumberland County to form the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham. In 1974, the two counties were split and reorganized, with the former portions of Durham County reorganized into the Regional Municipality of Durham. Brighton, Ontario
Brighton is a town in Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada, approximately east of Toronto and west of Kingston. It is traversed by both Highway 401 and the former Highway 2. The west end of the Murray Canal that leads east to the Bay of Quinte is at the east end of the town. Brighton later developed into primarily an agricultural community, specializing in the farming of apples and production of new apple types. However, in recent years, many of the original orchards in the area have been partially removed, to make way for the steadily growing population, and more profitable agricultural produce, such as wheat, corn and soybeans. Lake Ontario is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Executive Council Of Upper Canada
The Executive Council of Upper Canada had a similar function to the Cabinet in England but was not responsible to the Legislative Assembly. Members of the Executive Council were not necessarily members of the Legislative Assembly but were usually members of the Legislative Council. Members were appointed, often for life. The first five members were appointed in July 1792. The Council was dissolved on 10 February 1841 when Upper Canada and Lower Canada were united into the Province of Canada.
