Angus MacIsaac (footballer)
Angus MacIsaac (15 April 1900 – 23 June 1944) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the VFL between 1922 and 1924 and then again in 1926 and 1927 for the Richmond Football Club. Angus MacIsaac was a follower who played 59 games for the Tigers between 1922 and 1927. After commencing with the Tigers midway through the 1922 season, MacIsaac established himself in 1924 as one of the stars of the team playing every game. His efforts won him Richmond's most improved player trophy. He played in two final series but unfortunately the Tigers finished second in both years (1924 and 1927). MacIsaac had a great leap and a tremendous reach, which made him a very effective ruckman. At 187 cm, MacIsaac was the tallest player on the Richmond list for most of his career. Mooroopna, Victoria
Mooroopna is a rural town located north of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is on the banks of the Goulburn River opposite the larger town of Shepparton. The Midland Highway crosses the river between the two towns. At the 2016 census, Mooroopna had a population of 7,942. History The name Mooroopna was used by the original Kaieltheban tribe living in the area and meant 'deep water hole'. This refers to a very deep part of the Goulburn River behind the old Mooroopna Hall. The Kaielthebans (population 50 in 1841) were part of the Yorta Yorta Nation living in the region before the arrival of Europeans. Two entrepreneurs, Joseph Hawdon and Charles Bonney, camped on the edge of Gemmill's Swamp, close to Mooroopna, in January 1838. They were overlanding large herds of cattle and sheep from an area close to modern Seymour to Adelaide, about 1200 km by bullock dray along the Goulburn and Murray Rivers. Euroa, Victoria
Euroa is a town in the Shire of Strathbogie in the north-east of Victoria, Australia. At the 2016 census, Euroa's population was 3,275. The name Euroa comes from an Aboriginal word in the old local dialect meaning 'joyful'. History Major T.L. Mitchell camped on the banks of the Seven Creeks at Euroa during his 1836 "Australia Felix" expedition. The Post Office opened on 1 January 1854 in the old town, as the township was settled. Euroa's claim to fame is that the National Bank was robbed by Ned Kelly in 1878. Much of the region's wealth once came from sheep but now it comes from horse studs. The Euroa Magistrates' Court closed on 1 January 1990.
