Angmering Railway Station
Angmering is a railway station on the West Coastway Line, on the border of Angmering and East Preston in the district of Arun. It was opened in 1846. The station itself is situated about away from the centre of Angmering village, and is down the line from Brighton. Buses depart for Angmering village hourly (Monday to Saturday off-peak), or walking to the village takes about 20 minutes. The station is located near the local secondary school The Angmering School, some of the students of which use the station daily to travel to and from school. Angmering station is also designed to be used by the residents of the nearby villages of Rustington and East Preston, with some of the station's signage actually reading 'Angmering for Rustington and East Preston'. East Preston, West Sussex
East Preston is a village and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England. It lies roughly halfway between Littlehampton and Worthing. East Preston comprises the following residential areas, from east to west: Kingston Gorse, West Kingston, Angmering-on-Sea, East Preston Village and The Willowhayne. Village school The original village school building nowadays houses an estate agent firm. It was built in 1840 and started as a Sunday School funded by George Olliver. He received a reward for reporting a farm labourer (Edmund Bushby) for igniting a hayrick for moving the hay about efficiently. The labourer burned the hayrick in protest against farm machinery replacing manual labour. Bushby was subsequently hanged. Realtime Trains
Realtime Trains is a website that tracks trains on the British railway network. History Realtime Trains was launched in October 2012 by Tom Cairns, a student at the University of Southampton. In March 2020, Abellio ScotRail became the first operator to share additional rolling stock information with Realtime Trains. The additional information was dubbed ''Know Your Train'', and includes a visual overview of the type of rolling stock and number of carriages used by each service. Operators which now offer this information include Northern Trains and TransPennine Express. In May 2021, Realtime Trains stated that 45% of the distance travelled by trains on the British railway network was covered by Know Your Train. Portsmouth Harbour Railway Station
Portsmouth Harbour railway station is a railway station in Portsmouth, England. It is situated beside Gunwharf Quays in the city's harbour, and is an important transport terminal, with a bus interchange and ferry services to Gosport and the Isle of Wight. The station currently has four platforms in use: numbered 1, 3, 4 and 5. It is managed by South Western Railway. Platform 2 is no longer in use, having been decommissioned in the early 1990s following major repair and refurbishment work to the pier that the platforms sit on. Thameslink
Thameslink is a 24-hour main-line route in the British railway system, running from , , , and via central London to Sutton, , , Rainham, , , , and . The network opened as a through service in 1988, with severe overcrowding by 1998, carrying more than 28,000 passengers in the morning peak. All the services are currently operated by Govia Thameslink Railway. The Thameslink Programme was a major £5.5billion scheme to increase capacity on the central London section by accommodating more frequent and longer trains, and providing additional routes and destinations. Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is a train operating company that operates the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) rail franchise in England. Within the franchise, GTR runs the Thameslink, Great Northern, Southern (Govia Thameslink Railway), Southern and Gatwick Express services. GTR is a subsidiary of Govia, which is itself a joint venture between the British Go-Ahead Group (65%) and French company Keolis (35%). Southern is the brand name used by the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) train operating company on the Southern routes of the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern franchise in England.
