Anglican Diocese Of The Northern Territory
The Anglican Diocese of the Northern Territory covers Australia's Northern Territory and is part of the Province of Queensland in the Anglican Church of Australia. The first Bishop of the Northern Territory was consecrated in 1968. The cathedral church of the diocese is Christ Church Cathedral, Darwin. The fifth bishop, Greg Thompson, resigned to become the Bishop of Newcastle, New South Wales. In June 2014 the diocese announced the appointment of Greg Anderson as the sixth bishop who was consecrated and appointed in November 2014. Churchmanship (or churchpersonship; or tradition in most official contexts) is a way of talking about and labelling different tendencies, parties, or schools of thought within the Church of England and the sister churches of the Anglican Communion. Overview The term is derived from the older noun ''churchman'', which originally meant an ecclesiastic or clergyman but, some while before 1677, it was extended to people who were strong supporters of the Church of England and, by the nineteenth century, was used to distinguish between Anglicans and Dissenters. The Australian College of Theology (ACT) is an Australian higher education provider based in Sydney, New South Wales. Evangelical Anglicanism or evangelical Episcopalianism is a tradition or church party within Anglicanism that shares affinity with broader evangelicalism.
