Angelo Ciocca (born 28 June 1975) is an Italian politician and former member of the European Parliament. Career On 7 July 2016, Ciocca succeeded at the European Parliament to Gianluca Buonanno, who died on 5 June in a car crash. On 23 October 2018, he trampled on a letter from the EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Pierre Moscovici on the rejection of the Italian government financial law, boasting then the gesture in that the shoe had been produced in Italy, even if he still getting a salary from the Commission . Lega Nord (; acronym: LN), whose complete name is (), is a right-wing, federalist, populist and conservative political party in Italy. In the run-up of the 2018 general election, the party was rebranded as (), without changing its official name. The party was nonetheless frequently referred to only as "Lega" even before the rebranding, and informally as the (). The party's latest elected leader was Matteo Salvini. The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. Gianluca Buonanno (15 May 1966 – 5 June 2016) was an Italian politician born in Borgosesia. At the time of his death, Buonanno was mayor of Borgosesia, member of Lega Nord and MEP. Biography He was affiliated with the Italian Social Movement from 1982 to 1995, when he switched to the National Alliance. Buonanno left the National Alliance for Lega Nord in 2002. He was elected in the XVI and XVII legislature of Italy and in the 2014 European Parliament election for the eighth European Parliament. As an MEP, Buonanno was an unaffiliated Non-Inscrit before joining Europe of Nations and Freedom, and was backed by the European Alliance for Freedom and Movement for a Europe of Nations and Freedom. Buonanno died at the age of 50 in 2016 in a car accident in Gorla Maggiore, province of Varese. Pierre Moscovici (, ; born 16 September 1957) is a French politician who served as the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs from 2014 to 2019. He previously served as Minister of Finance from 2012 to 2014 and as Minister for European Affairs between 1997 and 2002.
