"Angel in the Snow" is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, released as the second single from their fifth studio album, '' Memorial Beach'' (1993). The single version of the song is only named "Angel". It was written as a wedding present for Lauren, the wife of principal songwriter and guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. It is customary at Norwegian weddings that the husband-to-be professes his love for the bride in a personally relevant manner, and "Angel in the Snow" was Paul's contribution. The single only reached number 41 on the UK Singles Chart. It also was going to be released in Germany but this was canceled. Critical reception Gavin Reeve from '' Smash Hits'' gave the song two out of five, writing, "The Scandinavian trio dust off their pop slippers to bring ud a lovely little ditty about an angel in the snow. ..This quietly majestic effort confirms their position as the best band in Norway (beginning with an A)." A-ha
A-ha (usually stylised as ''a-''h''a''; ) is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. Founded by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitars and vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards, guitars and vocals), and Morten Harket (lead vocals), the band rose to fame during the mid-1980s. A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album '' Hunting High and Low'' in 1985. ''Memorial Beach'' is the fifth studio album by the Norwegian band A-ha, released on 14 June 1993 by Warner Bros. Records. Background The album was recorded primarily at Prince's Paisley Park studios outside Minneapolis in the United States. ''Memorial Beach'' featured three UK Top 50 singles for the band, " Move to Memphis" (released as a single in 1991, almost two years before the album), "Dark is the Night" and "Angel in the Snow". Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (born Pål Gamst, 6 September 1961) is a Norwegian musician and songwriter. Waaktaar-Savoy is best known for his work as the main songwriter and guitarist in the Norwegian pop band A-ha, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. He has written or co-written most of the band's biggest hits, including " The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", " Hunting High and Low", "Take On Me", the 1987 James Bond theme "The Living Daylights" and the ballad " Summer Moved On". ''Smash Hits'' was a British music magazine aimed at young adults, originally published by EMAP. It ran from 1978 to 2006, and, after initially appearing monthly, was issued fortnightly during most of that time. "Stay on These Roads" is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, released on 14 March 1988 as the lead single from their third studio album of the same name (1988). It achieved success in many European countries. Manhattan Skyline is a Norwegian mathcore band based in Oslo, Norway. They are influenced by metal, hardcore, contemporary music, jazz, fusion and electronica. After their performance at the 2005 Bodø Hardcore festival, The Faceless Masses website praised them as "one of the fastest and most technical bands in Norway today." After releasing an EP, they began recording a full-length debut album which was intended for an early 2007 release, but due to illness within the band, this release was postponed until 2008. "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, released as the third single from their debut studio album, ''Hunting High and Low'' (1985). The song was written by guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, Pål Waaktaar. In some commercial markets the single was not as popular as their previous (debut) single "Take On Me", which had achieved the top spot in the United States and several other countries around the world, but in the United Kingdom and Ireland it improved upon the number-two charting of "Take On Me", reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks in January 1986, having been released there on 16 December 1985.
