Andy Samuel
Andy Samuel (April 10, 1909 – March 5, 1992) was an American child actor most notable for his appearances in 19 ''Our Gang'' comedies over a three-year period. Career Samuel's film debut in that series was the 1923 short, '' The Big Show''. Samuel was already thirteen before he joined the gang and became the oldest member of the gang. He left the series with a bit part in the 1925 short, ''Boys Will Be Joys''. By the time Samuel left ''Our Gang'' he was already sixteen and was the oldest member of the gang. Death Samuel died aged 82 from cancer on March 5, 1992. The Big Show (1923 Film)
''The Big Show'' is the ninth ''Our Gang'' short subject comedy released. The ''Our Gang'' series (later known as "The Little Rascals") was created by Hal Roach in 1922, and continued production until 1944. Plot After being chased away from the county fair, the gang decides to open their own junior version of the fair, complete with wild animal displays, rides, and animal stunts. To top it off, they give a live performance set inside a giant movie frame, and impersonate several popular film stars of the day. Notes When the television rights for the original silent Pathé Our Gang comedies were sold to National Telepix and other distributors, several episodes were retitled. This film was released into TV syndication as Mischief Makers in 1960 under the title "County Fair". About two-thirds of the original film was included. ''The Mysterious Mystery!'' is a 1924 short silent comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. It was the 33rd '' Our Gang'' short subject released. Plot Little Adelbert, son of a wealthy family, is kidnapped and held for ransom. The gang, led by Mickey, are quickly on the case. Mistaking Detective Jinks as a "suspeck," the gang captures him and notifies the police, who recognize the detective and release him. One of the kidnappers gives the gang a dollar to deliver a package to Mr. Wallingford: A ransom note attached to a pigeon. The note tells the Wallingfords to attach five $1,000 bills to the pigeon, but the kids accidentally let the pigeon escape. Riding with Mr. Wallingford, the gang goes to an airfield and hides from Det. Jinks in a plane that Mr. Wallingford hires to follow the pigeon. Plot The Gang is running a combination boxing club and (wireless) shoeshine business. After the boxing gloves owner takes his gloves home, the gym rent is due, and with some customer service mistakes in the shoeshine stand, the gang needs to raise money. They drum up business by spraying paint on men's shoes and cleaning them until a policeman catches them. One of the marks proves to be Jimbo Johnson, the "price" fighter, who bails the gang out.
