Andrés Rodríguez (basketball)
Andrés Guillermo Rodríguez Fernández (born February 27, 1981) is a Puerto Rican professional basketball player, who last played for Atenienses de Manatí of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional. He was born in Puerto Rico, where he debuted as a professional basketball played for the Criollos de Caguas in 1999. Rodríguez attended University of Louisville and American University, completing his college education in 2004. Afterwards, he migrated to Europe, where he first played for Olimpija Ljubljana and had his best season by leading the Liga ACB in assists per game in 2013 with Obradoiro CAB. While concurrently playing in Puerto Rico, Rodríguez won three BSN championships for two different teams. Internationally, he is a member of the Puerto Rico national basketball team. FIBA AmeriCup
The FIBA AmeriCup (previously known as the FIBA Americas Championship) is the Americas Basketball Championship that takes place every four years between national teams of the Western Hemisphere continents. Since FIBA organised the entire Western Hemisphere west of the Atlantic Ocean under one zone, countries from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America compete in this tournament. Through the 2015 edition, the Americas Championship took place every two years, and was also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games. The Louisville Cardinals (also known as the Cards) are the NCAA athletic teams representing the University of Louisville. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Criollos de Caguas were a professional basketball team based in Caguas, Puerto Rico. History The ''Criollos'' professional basketball team began to play during the 1969 season, joining their counterparts the ''Criollos'' of baseball. Unlike their baseball counterparts, however, the basketball ''Criollos'' did not enjoy a wild and steady success, instead settling for moderate success. The Centrobasket is a FIBA-sponsored international basketball tournament where national teams from Central America and the Caribbean participate.
