Andrius Jurkūnas
Andrius Jurkūnas (born 21 May 1976) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and former player. Playing career Jurkūnas played for Clemson University, which he attended from 1995 to 2000. He then moved to Žalgiris Kaunas, where he played 1.5 seasons. In 2002, he moved to Polonia Warsaw. After the 2001–2002 season, he signed the contract with Alba Berlin; however, he was released immediately after the health examination. Then he played for Hapoel Jerusalem, Astoria Bydgoszcz and Ironi Ashkelon. In 2004, he signed with Dornbirn Lions. From 2005 to 2009, he played for Szolnoki Olaj. Jurkūnas finished his career by playing for Savanoris Alytus and TiuMenas-Ežerūnas Molėtai. Coaching career After finishing his playing career, Jurkūnas joined Szolnoki Olaj coaching staff. Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A (men's Basketball)
The Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A ( en, National Championship I/A, commonly abbreviated NB I/A) is the highest level league of club men's basketball in Hungary. Format The league comprises 14 teams. A NB I/A season is split into a league stage and a playoff/playout stage. At the end of the league stage (14 teams) the top 5 teams play another league stage, another 5 play with each other, and then the top 8 teams qualify for the playoff stage. The playoffs are played in "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are the champions of that season. The two bottom teams play with each other in "Best of three" format. The losing team gets relegated. The 2001–02 Euroleague was the second season of the professional basketball competition for elite clubs throughout Europe, organised by Euroleague Basketball Company, and it was the 45th season of the premier competition for European men's clubs overall. The 2000–01 Euroleague was the inaugural basketball season of the EuroLeague, under the newly formed Euroleague Basketball Company's authority, and it was the 44th season of the premier competition for European men's professional basketball clubs overall. Basketball at the Summer Olympics has been a sport for men consistently since 1936. Prior to its inclusion as a medal sport, basketball was held as a demonstration event in 1904. Women's basketball made its debut in the Summer Olympics in 1976. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania.
