Andrew Gerard Simpson (born 1 January 1989) is an actor from Northern Ireland. He was spotted while performing in a festival by talent scout Patrick Duncan, who was working for Aisling Walsh, the director of ''Song for a Raggy Boy''. He is best known for playing Steven Connolly in ''Notes on a Scandal''. Early life Simpson was born in Derry, Northern Ireland, and grew up in the village of Fahan in neighbouring County Donegal, Republic of Ireland. However, he was educated in Derry and attended Foyle College. His mother sent her four children to Sandra Biddle's speech and drama school in the city. Career Simpson's first film appearance was as Gerard Peters 458 in ''Song for a Raggy Boy'' (2003), a story about an Irish reform school. In 2006, he appeared opposite Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench in the film ''Notes on a Scandal.'' Andrew Simpson (sailor)
Andrew James Bart Simpson (17 December 1976 – 9 May 2013), was an English sailor who won a gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, as crew for skipper Iain Percy in the Star class representing Great Britain. Simpson died in the capsize of the catamaran he was crewing on 9 May 2013, while training for the America's Cup in San Francisco Bay. Career Simpson started his competitive sailing career in the Laser class, before switching to the heavier Finn class. He claimed the bronze medal at the 2003 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Cadiz in the Finn class; his training partner Ben Ainslie took the gold, with Great Britain topping the medal table. He sailed with +39 Challenge in the 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup. Simpson then moved to the two-man Star class, partnering lifelong friend Iain Percy; they won a bronze medal at the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Cascais to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Andrew Simpson (animal Trainer)
Andrew Simpson (born ) is a Scottish animal trainer who runs the company Instinct for Film with his American-born marital partner and fellow trainer Sally Jo Sousa. Simpson was born in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. His parents worked for the aluminum maker Alcan, and he grew up with his family on the company estate in the Highlands. When he was 20 years old, he traveled to Australia and found work as an extra for the 1988 film ''A Cry in the Dark'' that starred Meryl Streep. Simpson worked with the film's dingo trainer for three weeks and continued working as an extra and as an animal training assistant. He eventually moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and worked for Creative Animal Talent. He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1994 and currently lives there on a ranch with Sousa.
