Andrew Russell (Australian Politician)
Andrew Russell (14 January 1809 – 10 December 1867) was a politician in colonial Victoria (Australia) and a Mayor of Melbourne. Russell was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and arrived in the Port Phillip District around 1841 and established a wholesale wine and spirit business in Melbourne. On 31 August 1851 Russell was appointed a nominated member (and sworn-in in November 1851) of the Victorian Legislative Council, a position he held until the original Council was abolished in 1856. Russell died in Boulogne-sur-Mer Boulogne-sur-Mer (; pcd, Boulonne-su-Mér; nl, Bonen; la, Gesoriacum or ''Bononia''), often called just Boulogne (, ), is a coastal city in Northern France. Andrew Russell (New Zealand Politician)
Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew Hamilton Russell (1812–1900) was a British Army officer. He was appointed to the New Zealand Legislative Council from 1861 to 1872, and was Minister of Native Affairs (as the Minister of Māori Affairs was then called) from 1865 to 1866 in the Stafford Ministry. Russell was commissioned into the 22nd Foot in 1828. He was promoted Lieutenant in 1834 and Captain in 1841. In 1842 he transferred to the 58th Foot. He served in New Zealand from 1845, and as Captain of the 58th and "Superintendent, Military Roads" was responsible for construction of the Old Porirua Road north from Wellington, where a steep section north of Johnsonville was known as "Russell's Folly". He was promoted Major in 1854 and retired as a Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1859. He then settled as a farmer on Mangakuri (sheep) Station in Hawke's Bay. Major General Sir Andrew Hamilton Russell (23 February 1868 – 29 November 1960) was a senior officer of the New Zealand Military Forces who served during the First World War. Born in Napier, New Zealand, Russell spent most of his youth in England. He joined the British Army in 1888 and served in India before transferring to the Indian Army in pursuit of a more active life. He grew disillusioned with his career and resigned his commission in 1892 to become a farmer in New Zealand. Running a sheep farm on land owned by his father, he retained an interest in soldiering and helped raise a local militia unit before becoming a senior officer in the New Zealand Territorial Force. He was appointed to command the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade upon the outbreak of war, and rose swiftly to high command during the Gallipoli campaign, principally for his role in the short-lived capture of Chunuk Bair. Andrew Ian Henry Russell, 15th Duke of Bedford (born 30 March 1962) is a British nobleman and peer. He is the son of Henry Robin Ian Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford, and his wife, Henrietta Tiarks. Biography Bedford was educated at Hall School, Hampstead and Heatherdown School, near Ascot in Berkshire, followed by Harrow School and Harvard, where he received his BA degree. Andrew Russell (born 30 March 1993) is a Scottish footballer. He has previously played for Livingston, Cowdenbeath, Berwick Rangers , East Stirlingshire and Bathgate Thistle on loan.
